  1. ::EDIT:: JUST WANNA KNOW BOUT WATTAGE NOW Ive just finished making a Hood with two lights at each ends and was wondering whether to paint the underside of it (where the lights are) Its made out of tin, so the reflection may be too much? Shoud i leave it silver, or paint it another colour so there isnt as much reflection?
  2. Yeah sounds like s***loads to me! i think the 1kg bags were like $20 each for the stuff i want, that cant be right
  3. Just found a site that kinda helps http://www.aquahobby.com/articles/e_howmuch_substrate.php so my volume would be (122*46*4) 22448cm^3 (22448/600=37.4) Can anyone correct me here? Im not too good with mathematics, but with my calc. it shows i need 37.4 kgs?
  4. Does anyone know a way that i can know how much sand im going to need for my tank? Im looking to cover 1220mm X 460mm X 40mm with a coarse sand. Is there a calculation that i can use to figure out how much i need? Its sold by the KG. lol thanks in advance. Probably another stupid question

  6. Thanks, lol yeah, i think ive doubled my plants already, im jut trying to grow them big enough for my main tank. Also, how can i plant my Glossostigma? Ive had it floating since ive bought it, but it hasnt grown. I tried planting one of them in my stones the other day but it wouldnt stay in the ground. Any suggestions?
  7. Ok then, i just bought some small plants 2 weeks ago and already they have grown heaps. The foreground was bare, but each snipping i make, is been closer and closer to the front of the tank....Ive taken a lot out and have done quite a bit of snipping. If i snip the plants that are growing too much, and replant the snippings, will they still grow normaly?
  8. Once again, another question from milet, will they ever stop?!?  Just wanted to know if you can have too many plants in one tank? What will it do to my tank and how will i know i have too many??? Thanks:)

  11. Okay tank is 600X300X300mm and is quite heavily planted so i dont really wanna pull it apart. What i want to do is lift it off the desk its on, and replace the desk with a shelf and put tha tank back on it. So im not realy carrying it around, just lifting it up, and ptting it back in same place. Is this possible to do without breaking the tank? Ie: Cracking right through the middle thanks

    Keeping NZ Fish?

Im still thinking whether to go coldwater marine or not. I really want to, but dont know if i have the time to set it up, like going to kaikoura and back etc Definatly going to think harder though, Might save for a chiller in the mean time
  18. I havnt heard anything about breeding them, but good luck anyways
  19. mines fine at the moment with stones, but its so annyoing! Its so noisy at night and he doesnt stop doing it
  20. Am about to start setting up my 250L tank and transferring fish into it in a week or so. My geophagus suranimensis is in a 150L tank at the moment and he likes to pick up the stones and spit them out (all day and all night long), but my new tank has a kind of coarse sand in it, will he still sift through the sand? Or should i stick to stones?
  21. Lol thanks caryl for the quick and simple reply
