  5. my 8ft tank is ony 444L and i have two 1200LPH internal filters, i have good amount of fish in there and even with weekly water changes the filters get pretty dirty, the water stays clean tho.
  6. just do it the simple way, read the box your filter came in and post the liters per hour rate. also mention the size of your tank.

  8. yes, they start to absorb moisture and slowly get mouldy etc
  9. EDIT:photo is in :freshwater members tanks:
  10. Does anyone have any info about "goldspot pecos"?, i bought one when i first started tropical fish this time last year. Didnt really think about him much when i bought him but now that hes grown up hes looks bloody awesome (about 10-15cm long). will post a pic asap
  11. how long should tanks last if there braced etc?
  12. might just be a common water spider (diamond back???????) they catch an air bubble when they go underwater (i.e crawl on something underwater) if the fish are small enough then they could be a snack but fish arnt exactly liquid so i dont know how the spider would eat them, spiders generally only eat insects becuase they have a nice fat liquid center.
  13. theres almost no shrimp in nz only the natives

    Marble rocks

deep underground? i have a flashlight you can borrow once you start diging
  15. what food are you feeding? are there any rocks in the tank and if so what are they
  16. i use water from the ground aswell (bore) which is high in iron, my fish are fine with it.
  17. are there any plants or is there an airstone in the tank? must have something to provide oxygen or have a current that disturbs the water
  18. Wild ones (Like yours) could carry disease as they could have been anywhere and done anything before you got em, comercial ones are kept in a controlled enviroment i think, which is why they say "disease free" on the packet. try feeding your ones to one fish (guppy) every week for a few months and see if anything happens.
  19. will need to move the angels
  20. just becuase you found that info on the net doesnt mean its true, i had 2 silver sharks in my 8ft tank and they were happy, they grow very very slow so a 4ft tank is fine for a year or 2, i have one now in a 4foot tank and it is happy as, no jumping or anything like that and is very active
  21. lemon juice works aswell
  22. red jewels are calm fish
  23. i gave up with the meds (used the same as yours) didnt do anything, tonic salt seems to have worked better but havnt gotten rid of it yet
  24. seems fine, ph should be around 6-6.5
