    TEMPS

Yep fans are a great idea but I am wishing to keep all my lights running so will have to forgo them, not that the temps really a problem on the tank.
  2. These were on the face so I am wondering how old they might be.
  3. I picked up another 4 today which now brings my total to 6 and I probably won't get any more due to tank space and the uncertainty as to how much they grow. Its interesting but mine don't look like P44's pic in that while they certainly have the spots they are much more blotchy. However, maybe this is due to different tank conditions. While mine were being caught in the shop today I thought I saw some small bristles on the nose of one of the ones in the tank. Interestingly enough, the guy who was catching them for me mentioned that he thought he had seen some as well. Also, some of my pretty peckoltias are very different in their markings at this stage.

    TEMPS

Mine are all running between 28 & 32. 32 is the discus tank, they are okay but some of the plecs really don't like it and neither do the cardinals.
  5. what are you feeding yours? I have mine in with the pretty pekoltias and some small very young bn atm.
  6. I've just come back after a weeks holiday and was stunned to see one of mine that has doubled in size. It was smaller than the pretty pekoltia that I purchased and now its nearly twice as big!
  7. I only managed to get my hands on two of them
  8. I happen to know its not that given that the leaves are only 1 1/2 cm high and less than 1/2cm wide. Dwarf sag is in fact not a dwarf at all given the height (50cm) that it grows to. Do you think I would be quite so silly to tell all if I had a banned plant in my tank? I don't think so!!!
  9. I think its dwarf something  Alanmin - I'm sorry but can you tell us again what its called and I'll write it down this time. Thanks
  10. Would some of this be any good. Its low growing as in hasn't made over about 1.5cm in height in my tank, spreads by runners and grows reasonably fast - the only thing is I don't know how it would cope with direct sunlight. I am going on holiday tomorrow but if you want some I can send some in about 12 days. Its the stuff in the foreground.
  11. My discus are from Ron -I have 6 - 3 blue and 3 orange
  12. Please go back to where you got them from and ask them never to let their fish get like that again. Ron (Discus Gurus) advice will be sound and he will only be trying to help. Discus that go black and sick take a very long time to die a very slow death. Hopefully they will pick up given that you are using the correct meds for them but the internal damage may be too much. Please be very very careful that you don't infect any of your other fish as I wouldn't want it to happen to them.
  13. Like these? lol - I have the discus but still working on the plants.
  14. You've probably spent ages searching the net but heres a link for you to look at http://z7.invisionfree.com/BettaBreeder ... getnewpost If you can afford and are able to do it I would recommend that you don't have the overflow drip into the containers below. The other thing I would be careful with is how strong the pump is as it will require careful calculation to get the right feed rate going. See if you can visit some peoples set ups and see how they deal with multiple tanks on one system as theirs are just a larger version of what you want to do. Good luck - I'll be watching your progress with great interest.
  15. wow - very nice looking plants

    discus help

Flourish can be added to the discus tank however a single dose only and it should be mixed with water prior to adding to the tank to stop it touching the discus at its full strength. Possibly adding some stress coat to the tank may help the discus but I am not certain.
  17. I have used them and while I don't necessarily know if they work the fish do seem to like them. However if you don't want tea stain coloured water don't use them
  18. I don't think its the filter but was the filter new or used when you got it? Are any of your newest guppies still alive?
  19. This is what came up when I googled the first ingredient - NPE is very toxic to fish and other water dwelling organisms and is considered a hormone disrupting substance, mimicking oestrogen. It degrades relatively readily in the environment to form the even more harmful nonylphenol (NP). Nonylphenol is not readily biodegradable and take months or even longer to degrade in surface waters or in soils and sediments, (where it tends to be immobilised). Non-biological degradation is negligible. Bioconcentration and bioaccumulation is significant in water dwelling organisms and birds, where it has been found in internal organs at between 10 and 1000 times greater than the surrounding environment. Nonylphenols are not broken down effectively in sewage treatment plants. I think that repeated washing of the drums may help but you won't know until further down the track if your fish are going to be rendered sterile or worse but it does say that it degrades.
  20. I'm just going to track back on what you have said. Is this correct 'all your fish were fine until you added some new guppies from a different store' ... ...because if that was the case these fish more than likely were carrying something that has infected the rest of the fish in the tank. A gentle treatment is to add rock salt to the water at the rate of 1 gram per litre of water. However I am not sure if this will work on bacteria. Furan is one of the last ditch treatments and if you are using it read the instructions as it is a known carcinogen in mice experiments. Don't worry about your pH as changing the pH will be putting way more stress on your fish. Fluctuating pH causes more problems than one that is not ideal.
  21. I have sent you a pm message. To find out what it says click on the new messages up on the left hand side of the screen next to the Logout.
  22. To me, although I am by no means an expert on this, your readings for nitrite and ammonia are both high. I am pretty certain that the tank is still cycling. Keep up the water changes until they both drop right down and if you want to hurry it up I have read in other posts on here that there is a product available now that pretty much instantly cycles your tank. Some of the more known experienced fishkeepers have said that it is very good.
