  1. Oh very cool! Do you have any pictures of your setup?
  2. I have seen some Neolamprologus leleupi for sale, are these suitable for my tank? Do they have the same kind of behaviour?
  3. Thanks! Wow 6, I thought that would be a few too many? I am quite happy sticking to just one species and having a little family unit. I didnt realise the silica sand was alot of hard work.. I just liked the look of it and thought it would be nice for the fish to dig in.. What else makes a good substrate? I have a lake nearby I could just take sand from.. Could look quite natural I guess. Thankyou for the heads up on the pulchers, yeah they are very similar to the brichardi I will have to keep an eye out, what are some good indicators that it is infact a hybrid? I want to be able to pass on the babies to others so dont want to end up with hybrid fish. Is anyone on here breeding these at the moment? Or breeding anything else similar that would be suitable?
  4. Hi there, I have recently aquired a 90L x 30W x 40H tank and would love some advice and suggestions on fish and decor. I have had a little colony of electric yellows in a 4ft in the past, but would love to try something different.. Perhaps something that looks after their babies and has interesting behaviour. I love the look of N. Pulcher (daffodil?) and their behaviour sounds really neat. Would they work in this sized tank? If so how many would be ideal? Any info and experiences with them I would love to hear about. I also like the look of that fine white silica sand, and was thinking limestone slates or maybe schist of some kind to make caves with, and would also buffer the PH. I would love some suggestions and also any pictures of your current set ups.
  5. Cool thats what I was thinking. Thrown in a Jebo 508 980lph waterfall filter in with it. Just popped it on trademe so we will see what happens. Really want to set up a little colony of daffodil pulchers. I used to have a 4ft with electric yellows in which was neat, 1m and 3f to begin with but ended up with quite a few more after they started breeding. I didnt think I could get away with keeping the pulchers in the 620t with it having a small footprint so out it goes and hoping to get something around 90cm long for a pair or maybe 1m 2fm.
  6. Is there a strong current in the tank? Fighters tend to like slow moving water.

  8. Anyone know how much I should list my Aqua One 620T tank and stand for? its 5-6 years old, more than half of that time it has spent in storage. A little bit of water damage to stand but still looks tidy and isnt anywhere near enough to effect it structurally.. Tank is still in good order, just the odd tiny scratch over the years from stones, cant see when tank has water in it. The filter has been changed, I chopped a piece out so I could put a 1000lph Jebo HOB filter on the back.. I also chopped a little piece out so I could fit an Aqua One cf1200 cannister filter onto it aswell. Think I might sell the Jebo HOB filter with it. These modifications havnt changed it aesthetically, The filter lid is still in one piece etc. How much is a reasonable amount to ask for it? Thinking about keeping the cannister filter for a new tank, a longer one so I can keep a couple of Neolamprologus Pulcher (daffodil?).. Or should I sell the cannister with it and keep the HOB? I can only find brand new ones for $450, nothing second hand to compare it to.
  9. lol yeah, now thats what i call a BLUE ram!!
  10. I think this girl might be related to mama guppy, but shes got more green in her. The are two more I bought, ones got the most yellow tail ever. with small black speckles through it This is the lucky boy, I think he may have endler in him? Looks like what some people call a "Wild Type", hard to research people have different names lol. Please excuse the blurryness, its super zoomed in on an old cellphone i found
  11. Ooh managed to make it a bit bigger.. This is my big mama guppy hoping shel have her babies soon :bounce: I know the photos are bad, anyone know enough about guppies to have any idea what type she is? Ive got a few more il post shortly..
  12. Sorry if its the wrong size, first attempt at posting a picture. Kimahri and her new fishy friends ** Edited to try make it a decent viewing size**
  13. Im lucky enough to have a great pet shop in Rotorua.. I have seen quite a few different killies in there from time to time, dont know alot about them myself but they had a few different colored ones. Better yet all the staff know about everything they sell
  14. Yah I hate birthdays now, will be 23 in August lol. Happy Birthday to you though! Hope you have a great day :bounce:
  15. Ive got a Aqua one 620T, if you look down into it when its empty (no substrate) you can see a thin layer of poly type stuff under the glass. The kind of stuff some people use to pack fragile items etc I think. It would look quite ugly if you put poly between the tank and the base with my one, glad they fit it between the glass and the moulding underneath. Just my two cents.
  16. Oh really? Il have to go ask Ardie down at the pet shop what he thinks about Rotorua water. Maybe ive bin wasting alot of money on stress coat
  17. I wanted one of those siphon pumps that go to your tap, but I was always worried about the chlorine in the water.. Not sure what Rotorua water is like tbh but I always use water conditioner. How do you guys get around that? Would make things alot easier
  18. Aww thats cute. Atm I have a keyhole cichlid gaurding a breeder net with gourami fry.. Wont let anything near them and has all her big black markings on display hehe. Motherly love? Im not sure.. Maybe she is just guarding her lunch.
  19. I don't know about other peoples yellows but if its vegetation it will get eaten.. Or if it is not really edible it will atleast get yanked out by the roots and yanked around the tank for a few laps.. But those are just my ones, they all have different personalities.
  20. Do you think that has something to do with dwarf gouramis being quite susceptible to diseases? (excuse the spelling!).
  21. Cant see the photos but i would take a stab at the cories. the other fish in your tank dont spawn in the open usually I dont think.
  22. I have a very bright female neon dwarf gourami... Just as bright as the male ones but different shape. They are not all just silver/brown. Maybe a better picture would give people a better idea on what sex it is?
  23. The "Gravid spot" sounds like just a dark marking to me. 8)

    Tank Mates

If you want to breed them I wouldn't put anything in big enough to eat the fry.. Which is pretty much anything lol. You could try a decent sized school of neon tetras? Although not 100% on whether they would go for the fry or not.
