how about trying some melafix its very gentle on the fish especially discus and tends to clean up any bacterial infections

my discus appear to be sweet apart from feeding time then my white diamond flashes uncontrollably on platns and drift wood getting really down on his side and scarping - do you think its fluek - I can't see any clamped gills but its probably better to treat sooner than later?

its just for general algae the green type - do get the odd brown coloured stuff on the glass as well ...

Does anyone have suggestions for algae eaters in a cichlid tank with electric yellows, melanchromis etc? iam trying to avoid getting a pleco as they get way to big? would a flying fox work? Cheers

they are itty bitty allyou can see on the glass is a tiny tiny sucker type thing no real shell to speak of yet...

clown loaches would get to big for that type of tank wouldn't they?

yeah its an aqua one 620 they are tiny wee baby things will they still get eaten?

I have stripped out the plants from my aqua one 620 and all over the glass (an i mean all over!) are these tiny little sucky things that look like baby snails, any suggestionsfor getting rid of them without hurting the fishies?

I have just found my big bristlenose belly up i notices it has these whit e round spots on its body? any ideas? my smaller one which is fine at the moment has these white patches on its body as well

Hi I have a small tank just set up and have got vast amounts of a dark coloured fluffy algae (I think its algae) have to brittlenosed catfish but they dont touch the stuff... What causes this and what can I use to remedy the problem?

if its flukes you should see one of the gills clamped to the side or being used more than the other and the fish generally hanging out at the back of the tank or sitting on the bottom of the tank, usually there is flashing against plants, driftwood etc

can you overdose with this stuff?

From my experience the barbs and danios are to quick for the discus - they eat the food to fast !

Thanks Caryl does it need to be a strong solution of salty water, do I just rinse and rinse afterwards to make sure all traces of the salt are gone? and then let the tank cycle again afterwards ?

Does the UV sterilizer help with keeping bugs out of your tank water though?

I have been using an Aqua one 980 as a hospital tank unfortunately I lost the patients, I am wondering how I go about sterilizing the tank as meds were being used and Iam going to turn it back into a community tank - do I need to clean out the ceramic noodles - what can I wash the tank itself with as the fish lost all their body slime ..... will the filter need a good clean out as well ?

i take back what I said about the Drontal since that was used my discus have got really really stressed and now their body slime is peeling off

Hi Jayci, I have just treated a 90 litre tank with discus using the Drontal tablets for large dogs - I think it had 175 mg of praziquantel in them ... it looked like a bomb went off in the tank and they were quite skitterish for about an hour after it went in but no devestating effects have appeared I was treating for gill flukes what were you hoping to get rid of?
