okay well nearly three and a bit weeks into it I have 5 harlequins an albino bristlenose and a gold nugget added a school of rummy nose and in 24 hours only one left ! checked all water parameters and i still apparently have zero nitrite/nitrate and ammonia - I don't think I am getting enough of a bio load happening for a cycle - should i be worried about my rummy nose loss? - HELP

I have a DVS works great for getting rid of condensation and with dry air it makes it easier/quicker to heat the house in the winter, in summer I put it down to a low setting otherwise your house becomes an oven...make sure they give you the right type of controller for your home so it cuts out when its a hot day and the roof spaces is hotter than 17 degrees otherwise its a disaster...you can get a bit of a cold blast in winter but my advice is if an outlet goes in the bedroom get it blocked on one side so the air dosen't circulate on your bed overall you can buy a cheap ducting kit from bunnings and if you know an electrician get them to install it works the same and a cheaper option - also if people have fire places in their home it can circulate the smell in your house if you don't get an additional charcoal filter.... I have a 4 bdrm house and found HRV really expensive for exactly the same product as DVS

kind of slimy and furry its just on parts of the drift wood its in a slimy patch on the top and long furry like patches along the long part of the log...my tank is only cycling at the moment and according to my test nitrite/nitrate and ammonia all at zero.... will any of the bristlenoses clean it?

I have just setup my tank again and now my driftwood has some bright green and I mean fluro green growth on it the water doesn't smell and it doesn't bother the fish but how do i get rid of it ??

have you tried feeding bloodworm out of a feeding ring i found that was good for the more shy discus because it dispersed throughout the tank - or otherwise daphnia it floats about and there is no need to compete with the more aggressive discus for food

is the Waikato meeting this sun or next ?

I want to add discus so don't really want to add to many others - do you think maybe 5 cardinals and I should kick start the bio load okay?

still waiting and testing ammonia nitrite and nitrate all at 0.00 but haven't seen a spike yet at all is that due to the volume of water of 215 litres vs the very few fish numbers and their very small size?

I keep a large britlenose with my malawis no problem at all proviidng it has a bit of size to it.

yep going to get some more babies at the moment they are hanging out with the cardinals....... my other ones are semi adult I know they love the driftwood

what do severums go with tankmate wise?

make sure it is adtape if in liquid form and not mixed with any other worming products

I have used droncit before i turned the UV sterilizer off just to be careful it didn't harm any of the plants or filter media at all nor the fish, I did a water change after 48 hours and then re-dosed

I have a 215 aqua one 980 tank with brightstone substrate and a large piece of driftwood...at present only 5 plants at the back of the tank which are tall and look a little like camomba I am wanting to create a good environment for discus any ideas what to use for plating? have only standard aqua one lighting - but am using a red light for plants - no CO2...

are they losing colour and trying to hide at all ?

i have dumped the carbon chips given it a good clean and are starting cycling all over I have also setup the aqua one 980 standard filter system to run alongside as well - double help hopefully?

will it be okay in a tank at 29 degrees also with low PH ?

yes it appears that the cannister filter failed coz it leaked today....grrrr !!!!!!I am thinking that cloudy water was a bacterial bloom as a result??

what a good short grass for the front of the tank to create a lawn type effect?
