the bulbs that came with the tank are atman 10000k and im wanting to replace them with 6500k bulbs, they are 76cm (30in) tip to tip of the complete bulb, i went to pet planet and they are at a loss in getting them. i went to redpath and every other lighting shop in dunedin and it is the length that keeps stuffing us up, the only place i havent tryed is mastertrade, might give them a ring.

are there any owners of this tank around here that have got 6500k bulbs instead of the 2 10000k bulbs it comes with? if so where abouts did you get them from because there is no-one in dunedin stocking them. any help would be appreciated.

i have 5 rummie nose tetras and they love to play follow the leader.

im at a loss as what to get for my tank, im after a couple of fish of medium size, any ideas? have a look at my sig to get an idea of what i already have. any ideas of fish that change colours aswell, i have 2 emporer tetras that change colour and was looking for sum other fish that might do the same.

last weekend while lokking at my tank one of my SAE flew out of the water at high speed and whacked itself into the filterhood (twice), seemed ok and then it dissappeared for like 3 days. now it has come out of hiding with its tail fin and dorsal fin almost nipped completly off. Should i get rid of it or will the fins grow back?

im looking for a place online to buy light bulbs for an ar-850 tank, has anyone ever brought bulbs online before? any recommended sites? thanks

i have the same tank and problem as you do, i have been told it is the lights, they need to be 6500k - 8000k daylight bulbs, but the light bulb is an odd lenght so ya can only get them from the fish shop at $30 a pop. lights need to be on for atleast 10hrs a day.

well i went to 5 different shops today and they had the bulbs i wanted for $8 but only 2ft (my bulbs are about 2 1/2ft ) went to the petshop and they had them but only 18000k and $30 so after a debate with the shop assistant about the k rating (trying to tell me 18000k was better than 6500k) i left tubeless dang it.

so the plants are stuffed arent they? im not going to fix them with new bulbs aye? will buy sum new plants when i get bulbs next week. thanks for the help every1

yes you are right one of the bulbs is a bluey one and the other is 10000k, cant see the k rating on the 3rd, i am waiting for mastertrade to open back up so i can go get 3 6500k/8000k daylight bulbs. bulbs have only been going bout 2 months. it is a bit from the fish shop, this is the second tank i have done and the first tank i had the same problem without the driftwood.

since starting my tank i have always had a problem of the outside edges of the leaves on all my plants turning black, can anyone explain how i can maintain my plants so they look healthy and actually grow. im going to rip them all out and start again so any ideas on easy plants that grow easily would be helpfull. i have an aqua one ar-850 with three lights in the hood and they are on a timer for 12hrs a day and the tank has no direct sunlight.

ok so i have adjusted my outlets on my filters so i have quite abit of surface movement and only a handfull of bubbles coming from one of my outlets. fish seem to be ok but do tend to go to the surface and swim round with their mouths out of the water for a little bit.

are these for viewing purposes only or do they actually helpfull for the fish? i have one that goes right along the back wall of my tank and the fish seem to like swimming in it letting the bubbles glide them through the water. but the problem i have is the water in the tank is full of tiny air bubbles that really annoy me. are these tiny air bubbles ok for the tank/fish or should i turn the bubble wall off.

i no this is an old thread but i have had an ar-850 for 2 months and have the same problem but dont understand the poly trick :oops: can sum1 post up a pic of what they done for me to understand it abit more. thanks

thanks, im really anal about the condition of the water, it has to be crystal clear and the glass has to be spotless for everybodys veiwing pleasure.

i done it, i got another internal filter (aqua one Maxi 102F) and sorted my media out in the filter hood, put more noodles and carbon and filter wool on top and beneath the media and my water is crystal clear :lol:

just interested in how big your tank is and how many fish have you got in it. i have an aqua one ar-850 155ltr semi planted tank with big peice of driftwood and so far have 17 fish. 2 neon tetra 5 rummy nosed tetra 2 emporer tetra 2 peppered catfish 1 bristlenose catfish 1 female fighter 1 angelfish 2 mollies 2 platys 2 rosey barbs
