    Leopard Fish

Too expensive to courier them down I guess. Rung NZcouriers for a price this week and they said $30 for 5kg for overnight service - and they really do not like taking live fish - and especially not in winter... Add to that the polybox and the heatpads and you get to $40 freight costs - if you can make it below the 5kgs.

  3. Thanks for that info kribkrazy. All the other couriers said it'll be a two day trip so i gave up ringing the last one

If you have the time sharn could you post on which wholesale list they are as my LFS seems not to be able to get them
  6. So if I want to send some fish down from the North to Dunedin it will be airfreight? And that will be delivered the next morning?? Got any experience with that?
  7. Same seller as in this thread: http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/advice ... 20343.html
  8. Thanks fishboi. Couldn't make any sense out of the term "nymph" in the context of breeding goldfish. So all these "nymphs" on TM are deformed fish that the breeders cannot sell to the petshops? I always wondered why there are so many for sale and what it actually meant. The person "orandafan" seems to sell lots of them on TM and getting good feedback too. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Members/Feedba ... er=1716377 http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... d=92889876 http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... d=92889878 http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... d=92016279
  9. Could you explain what a "nymph" is in that context? And what has the "cross" to do with it?

From which list is the LFS going to order? It seems we haven't seen Ottos here for some months and I wonder (what has been suggested before) that the LFS is not ordering from all available suppliers, but just one or two. So if you could shed some light on which supplier has them on the wholesale list then we might get some too up here. Thanks.
  12. And why are the other 1000 members not allowed to know what you and "the buddy" are knowing? I feel quite a dislike coming up after reading some of your postings BlueandKim - unfortunately. Is there an exclusive club or are we going to share - I wonder...
  13. Ever seen a Hygrophylia Difformis looking like THAT? http://www.trademe.co.nz/Home-living/Pe ... 991238.htm
  14. I like my microworms. Together with the daphnias they provide good food for all my fry. However I found they are more effective in a bare bottom tank so the fry can actually see them squirming around rather than them digging into the gravel to die there. Although some will be eaten while they fall to the ground, most will actually end up at the bottom of the tank.
  15. OMG - this must be the BEST kept secret of all times! So WHO knows AND will let me have the address of "Aquarius Imports" PLEASE!!
  16. My tank is a 3.5 footer. So should have plenty of space with 4 flowerpots, 3 logs and plenty of plants - but no - they DID find each other rather quickly ...
  17. Thats ok, but what is their address????
  18. Nothing serious she says. Well I had to intervene after one boy looked half dead after a "busy" night. He never was the same again though, so they do fight madly when adult. Better have one big boy and 2 or 3 girls together.
  19. Nobody knows their whereabouts??
  20. Could you post their address or phone number for me (or PM) - thanks!
  21. I read above: "Plecos... Spiney Catfish etc: Use Tupperware containers.. one third water.. two thirds air..." From what age on do bristlenoses have the spines? Can I ship little ones in bags? Or will they puncture the bags? What do the "experts" (or people that ship them all the time) think?
  22. Could you post the link please? Thanks.
  23. A couple of stalks can just be buried deep into the gravel. If the gravel is not deep enough then lay it parallel to the ground for 10cm then let it float up, so that a longer piece is underground. If everything else fails do what I do with big bunches: put a stone on top! Nothing will float then.
  24. They definitely suck themselves out of the water rather quickly. Have watched some babies do that in a bucket with very little water at the bottom, they came over half the height of the bucket until they gave up. In a 3/4 full one they would have definitely sucked themselves over the top...
