  1. i leave mine to do what ever in my tanks (i have heaps of plants in there tho) and they grow up, a few must get eaten but a lot survive
  2. Go external, canister filters are great. I have 10 striped (2parents)(sold more than 40 young) and 4 white convicts in with my year old turtles in a 4 ft tank holding about 200ltrs with a jebo 819 and its doing a brilliant job, I have used smaller filters but i am now really glad i just spent the extra money and got a decent filter. My con's have been in with my turtles for quite awhile so they think they are the boss, they even take food out of the turtles mouths so i wouldn't be surprised if one day the turtles click they are live food. but hopefully i can intervien (sp?) before that happens!!

Thats pretty funny, have you still not moved out?
  19. if its living i don't think youll have a problem
  20. could you post a pic of how you have the bamboo in your tanks fishboi??
  21. I used just a bag of builders sand i think it was from bunnings, you just need to give it a real good wash!!! Clown loaches are slow growing from what i have read and IME i have had my 6 for nearly a year and they have grown a bit but they are far off out growing the tank, then you could always sell or swap them for smaller ones as for the bamboo i don't think coating it with anything would be a very good idea, it would probably take awhile to get to the rotting stage and then you could just replace it maybe??? As for the gourami, you could alway get a selection?? Dwarfs are quite nice and come in pretty colours I personally like my golds and peb's my kissing (i can't see how people think there ugly )
  22. I wish we had a problem with it being hot down here :-?
