  1. your tap water is a good start, that is all i have ever had for mine & have had good success with them. i just used crushed marble as a substrate & my ph is usually around 7.2 from the tap & the tank is usually around 7.4. As for the setup, aim for 5 or 6 times turn over of the tank volume per hour, if your tank is 300L aim for 1500 to 1800LPH of filtration. Do 30% water changes per week & you shouldn't have any issues with water quality once your tank is established. this setup will be great for heavy stocking which is how africans should be kept.
  2. if not then trying to sell fish off a pic that doesn't represent the fish for sale is a less than ideal situation to be. it will be interesting to see either way.
  3. at least our current fish look very similar or the same as the wild ones, these look nothing like anything wild. the colour is not that great & their massive eyes make them look like they come from the light deprived deep of the lake. troph i can relate to, tropa & trops :gigl: i was expecting tropa to be short for tropical
  4. what do you mean "tropa"? & how can you say it is hard to tell what the fish we have here are? pemba, duboisi, moliro, ikola & caramba that are here certainly look like the wild versions that people keep in aquariums in other countries.
  5. well it certainly doesn't clear up what these yellows are. don't get me wrong, great work that HFF is bringing in some new trophs but it would have been awesome to get something close to pure. mpulungu, illangi, brichardi line breds would be awesome.
  6. a strain that has something like 30 variants of which none look like that fish. it all seems a bit odd to me, i certainly wouldn't spend any money on them because i could cross trophs & line breed them myself for nothing.
  7. [email protected] is the email i used as it is what comes up when i click on your "email button" from the pic they look like nothing i can find in any books or the cichlid forum species register. some solid info on what they are would be very beneficial.
  8. surely not, that would be kindergarten behaviour it was an email as they asked for in the post.
  9. what are the ones coming in supposed to be? i requested a price when the thread was posted but have had no reply.
  10. you did ask them to replace the panel a? not repair a crack? i am sure if you tell them what you want ie:glass size & thickness there must be someone out there willing to do what you ask for.
  11. that stocking should be good but I am unsure how they will treat the plants. i would also try an species of peacock, that will add another colour dimension.
  12. there are also smaller fish available that should be good in there, lump heads & shellies will be a nice addition as they are generally bottom dwellers.
  13. nice, it looks like it will mature well as time goes on.

    yellow labs

i'd throw in some yellows, i don't know if that will reduce aggression but it will still look good if not

    saving babies?

i have had fry hiding under rock work but when i remove it the adult fish are more worried about me netting them than trying to eat the fry. it shouldn't be too difficult but you may need to be quick.
  17. i would also like to see that & i do remember the dog show & i was born in 1980.
  18. the shine did rub off a little today when he had a go at one of our hens but hey, that happens & he will learn. We are enjoying him very much so far but it is early days yet, at least we have the space & time he needs so it is looking promising for him being a well mannered dog for us.
  19. :slfg: my son plays on steam when he is allowed to. there is one game that i used to play which i make him play alot more than any others, it is called OUTSIDE. It was very popular when i was a kid but doesn't seem to popular with kids these days.
