  1. thats why i painted mine, it looks awesome.
  2. when you get water or even moisture between the glass & back ground it looks rubbish. If the paint flakes & falls off then the job is half done & the rest should be easy to get off
  3. tinting has to be stuck on so removing it could be as much of a pain as removing the paint. the back ground i have is blue one side & black on the other & it comes in a roll in different widths, i got mine from my LFS.
  4. i have had blue & black back grounds on tanks & they are never perfect. Are you going to be able to see this tank from behind? painting it gives a perfect fish from the fish side of the back panel but you will see the brush strokes from behind the tank.
  5. no it wont, if you wanted to tint your glass go with the 5% tint which is what is allpied to the windows of a ambulance but again this is stuck on so its basically a see through film. a black background sheet will be better or you could paint it. i painted my 4 footer with 2 test pots from resene. the % refers to the amount of light it lets in, 35% is let in on this were as 5% on the darkest tint.
  6. the more info you can give us the better if you are refering to details of a tank i would guess its a overflow system where a glass panel is added into the corner on a 45 deg angle & the water overflows into the corner & exits through an overflow pipe to a sump filtration system. I have also recently been seeking info on overflows, this link to a thread may help you understand furtherif you need it. http://www.fishkeepers.co.nz/forums/vie ... =14&t=1869
  7. i know, i can tell by the tank in the back ground.
  8. well if its not good i would still buy it, thats a awesome looking fish.
  9. so why doesn't bacteria grow in substrates? the UG filters were very popular before the canister was around.
  10. i think substrate has beneficial aspects like harbouring bacteria for taking out the nitrates so i wouldn't have a bare bottom tank. i have found that fry grow faster in substrated tanks.
  11. thanks for the list maaxim, the only extra tropheus is a "kasabe" what ever that is. am i right in assuming that with moori being on the list any sub species can be brought in?
  12. we already have dubs, moliro, ikola, bulu points, & a few others "sp blacks". i would like to see 1 type of rainbow, kapere or similar. that would give us a good spectrum without going silly & trying to import everything.
  13. there's no problem with them, they are here. its the others that i'd like to know how difficult it would be to get in, like the rainbows. If they are allowed in without any other documentation above the standard already done stuff then is there any reason why they cannot come from aussie?
  14. i think it will, my nana has a 2.4mx2.4m glass house that has a concrete floor & 200mm high concrete nib wall & she simply fills up the floor with water & has pots sitting in it.
  15. there must already be proof of this as the others are in????
  16. can you shed some light on this for me? moori are on the list which technically opens the door for alot of rainbows which would be great but i see none of the "sp black" which include the ikolas, pembas & bulu points which we all know are here. all very confusing for a newbie into what is or is not allowed.
  17. what's the usual reasons? i would start again with the plants, it could take a long time for them to come back.
  18. why did you overdose? years ago when i used flourish excell to get rid of BBA i dosed as directed & it worked very well.
  19. i agree. i didn't realise there were 2 users on one name. maybe if you two want to discuss things maybe it should be in person?
  20. when i was a kid my parents bought a middle aged sow that had lived with people closely. what a mistake, she would get out of her pen & seek us out. if we weren't there she would push doors open & in the first week or so mum was woken one night to crashing in the kitchen, this pig had got inside, opened the fridge & was trying to eat what ever it could. she was very good when she had piglets, would let us handle them & my sister would sit with them & she was only about 3 at the time. i am sure most training of animals involves a relationship with good behaviour & rewards, namely food so make sure you feed it away from your house
  21. isn't funny how we can all have connections in other fields. you guys have people you each know through bikie circles as do I, my auntie's boyfriend's brother is also in that scene. he doesn't ride bikes though, he the one who re-attaches your testicles when you crash & tear them off on those pop tanks.
  22. the rock & hauraki each have different target audiences which is great for both groups who get to listen to more of what they want, although the rock's target audience is younger so they will be around for a bit longer.
  23. i used to listen to hauraki & really liked Stan Sudgeway "Are you there Stan? Yeesssssssssssss" but the rock plays the newer rock which i am into.
