i hear there running there tanks on cannister filters with no sump and no skimmer, should be a fantastic display :lol: would be ok as fish only i guess.

WAS is a very good way to put it, i lost him yesterday, no idea what happened, my other 2 clams are doing really well and were within 2 inches of each other, came in to see my yellow tang eating his receded mantel, crazy stuff. such a shame cos he was a great color and his growth, i dont have a strontium test kit, the ca additive i used to use had strontium in it but now im using a reactor i guess i should check what my levels are. what dose strontium do? how important is it?

how goes it chimera? :-? i called up the dvs people yesterday, the lady was great, answered all my questions and gave me estimates on priceing which was very helpful, seems that it is a matter of very little differance between the systems (hrv-dvs), she said they can put vents in every room if i like and that they have a range of optional extras (very similar to the hrv system). 2 weeks before they can install from the day i say yes, and at a similar price im guessing i will go the dvs road, other wise people will tell me i told you so when hrv dont delever on ther promisess.

i tryed the backing thig to reduce reflection, this seemed to make him run at the glass more, so removed it. tryed the ping pong ball thing, he has never been interested in it. still no luck with feeding, might try some ummm "live food" and ill see if i can get some meal worms that might tempt him. cheers people. keep the ideas comming

totally agree! i love angels but dont get to see them cos most of the are not coral friends! that is one im looking foward too :bounce: the reef looks great too, are the rocks glued/cemented to the base? that is a great idea, hmmm might have to do that when i upgrade next! :roll:

ive seen this term "cook it" before, how do you cook rocks? not that im going to do it but it would be handy to know just in case i need to in the future, the rock would then need to be re cycled?

i have been thinking of seting up a saltwater pond out side, thinking of somewhere around 3000 ltrs, stocking it with things found in rockpools on the coasts. has anyone put any thort into this before? i guess some of the things to consider would be evaportion, skimming, algie control, water changes? water movement, etc. most of these would be taken care of by normal fresh water pond gear. how important would skimming be? i would be keeping most things i can find from rock pools. im still in the thinking stage so whos got some ideas on how to make this work.

thanks people! banana ill try that one tomorrow! he has been on frozen tucker for a long while, i have pellets but he only eats those if he feels like it. we added a shark to the tank and he went mental so we removed it, this i would say is the cause of his sulking, he chases his reflection (to the point where he runs into the glass at a very high speed) as well which is something that i never noticed before, will try some differant foods and see if that helps.

:bounce: read read read, then read read read, it is the best way to find out what you need to know. you will need some coral rock, this will need to be cycled, test kit so you can check how the cycle is going. then more reading, use all the referance sites and forums, and books are another great sorce of information.

Hi all, I have a tiger Oscar at work, he is a big boy around 35cm and gets heaps of great comments from our customers. he has not had anything to eat for 3+ weeks, he dose this from time to time, im interested to hear if there is anything that i can do to raise his appetite. thanks in advance

yeah 20ltr drums, i get 200ltrs at a time. makes it cheep and lasts a while.

Purchased a canon s31s, its not a dslr but its got a great macro, and it cost less than a macro lens for the 350d! im still learning how to use it but these are some pics i took the first night i had it.
