hmmm spelling, bugger it! no money in that! ok so i still can get that drawing to work. yes i have the deltec 1250, laguna 7, display is 1220l x 455 back x 600 deep, current plumbing is pvc and should be good to stay with the new sump (untill i get annoyed with a little sump and go through the wall) sump is 530mm long x 400mm back x 359mm tall, so small! the right hand side of the drawing was the "in" from my overflow, the laguna will sit on the left, do i have it back to front? baffles after skimmer?

thort i should start my own thread rather that hijack the other one. here is my thorts of how i should set up my sump if it remains under my tank. i hope you can understand it, my ability to draw is similar to my abiltiy to spell, useless! for some reason it has come out very small, if you copy and paste it in paint you will be able to zoom in and see the dimentions.

yep, im using the L7 now, full bore! head height is approx 1.2m it will drain my sump in under a 60 secs. i like the flow it provides, and everyting is handling it. will post some dimentions soon.

a single t5 2 foot will be no where near as bright as your halide, reall only for supplement light, i have a tank set up with 4 2 foot t5s and there goo but still not as bright as a single 150w mh. so are you thinking of shortning the photo period of the 150w mh?

Layton, you posted on mon sep 04 10:14pm, with you personal opnion of dorsos, this will effect the desgin of a sump but you didnt clearly state the differance between the 2 stand pipes, this would have been helpful for anyone who has no experance with both setups. and it was your personal opnion, not the only best way, wasp didnt post untill tuse sep 05 12:56am. not sure how you can justify saying wasp took this off topic with personal issues, when you posted a personal opinion and then wasp came in with a very informitave post. give up layton, pies post sums it up. now do you have anything to add regarding the design of a sump?

im am going to improve the sump setup on my current tank, so i will bounce some ideas i have around here. i am limited by size under my tank, or i could put some holes through my wall and go for a big sump. im thinking that i will have 3 "compartments" one for sump feed from overflow, one to house my skimmer (insump deltec 1250) heaters etc, and one for my return pump (luguna 7) as i said i am limited by space under my tank, i will post some measurements of what space i have avalable and dimentions of my equipment. looking for advice from experenced reefers, how would you set it up if you had the same equipment as me? i have used full syphon and dorso, i like the full syphon but i do not have the saftey stand pipe and would rather not have to drill my tank for a second stand pipe. is there a way around having the saftey pipe but still remain full syphon? im only interested in full syphon as im running out of room to have the baffels 50mm apart. i have no reason not to go through the wall other than its more work.

it is able to be done, if the ballist dose not fit in the case you could have it external. got to ask, why? what is the goal?

one big sump wins my vote, redesign your cabnet (metal frame?) so it will fit. that is the first thing i will change from my current set up when i upgrade, bigger is better, more useable space.

not sure, he is selling up this set up, everything! i asked him if he was going to do a smaller tank but im not sure he has the time, this is why he is selling the current one. some great peices, shame im fast running out of room.

i beleve he is looking into selling this peice by peice, contact him if you are interested in any peices (see the link to trademe there is a list of most things he has there), there are some very larges ones. some good equipment too, streams, auto top off, ca reactor, chiller etc i already have my order in.

yep, i remember it from you showing me, will it kill the nudis and there eggs? can you spare me some? i found one of the frags i got from you down the back of my reef, amazingly enough it is cranking along, would have grown 5mm since i lost it! thats what you get from buying good frags i guess!

dam nudis!!!!!! :evil: :evil: :evil: i took my reef apart tonight to remove my clown tang, in the process i had a look at my monti, sure enough there were around 10 or so nudis hiding under its edge, i put it in a bucket of water from my tank and killed as many as i could, i have just had another look and there is at least one still there. :evil: should i persist in trying to manualy remove them or should i try a fresh water dip?

i dont have a 6 line, i want one but i need to catch my clown tang and sell him before i can add anymore fish, i have had a bait catcher in there for 4 days with nori in it but he is too smart for that. anyone know a good way to catch a clown tang? how do i get rid of nudis? what do they look like?

what is a sarcophyton? :-? it has been in the same spot for quite a while now, it seems to be well away from everything, the pic dosnt really show the gaps though.

i noticed this two days ago, now its getting worse, im thing nudibranchs (however you spell it), is this what they do? how do i get them out. i cant seem to see anything on there but i guess they will be very small? heres a pic

that growth is great reef, thats my new goal, i what zoo's and mushies all over my glass. better than any painted backing!

its that time of year again, bugs and fleas are coming out to play :evil: im wanting to use a bug bomb inside my house this year to prevent these creepy crawly's from comming inside. im not sure what to do about my tank, should i cover it with some thick blankets? should i close off that end of the house? (this would make the bug bomb less efective) or should i just put up with the bugs? has anyone used a bug bomb around an open tank? do you think the toxins would affect the tank?
