  1. Hmm if I remember rightly a while back there was a discussion on a site I saw somewhere... something in regards to the change of name... something is ringing a bell but maybe Frenchy or someone else might have more of a memory than I have?? I could be wrong...
  2. The Red Shouldered being listed to the right of the profiles page, hit that and it links up.
  3. Aulonocara hansbaenschi - Red Shoulder Peacock
  4. Gee surely it would be a one off that stores charge that, I mean are they literally gold plated or what? :-? I got a beautiful electric yellow male, who was around the 13-14cm mark for $18... to me that was a bargain and being in the right place at the right time. I have never seen Electric Yellows of that size retail for $99 down this way..
  5. Yeap as Ryan said, will pay to part them when you can as they will happily cross breed.
  6. $99 for an Electric Yellow? Surely it's a typo??????
  7. If that is the case then Frontoisi's = prime Oscar food
  8. boi, the mind boggles  And she's still got a crop of goodness knows what

What sort of Geos are you after in particular GZ?
  12. Ummm YES I remember reading an article a wee while ago now on Brackish Puffers (particularly the article being directed at the Green Spotted Puffer) and how people acclimatize them to freshwater conditions.. the person who wrote the article specialized in Puffers.. and he/she (can't recall) was majorly not in favour of Brackish Puffers being kept in freshwater. There are people out there who keep the Green Spotted Puffer in freshwater, suppliers were even selling them on the lists and sending them in freshwater.. Personally I think they should be kept in the required water conditions. And apparently they are alot longer lived, of which one would want I think if you got the Figure eight and jammed it in your freshwater set up it would snuff it Maybe play it safe and be fair to the fish and set up a Brackish Tank? They are easy to keep and maintain, you know you want to
  13. I am pretty sure there was a discussion on the Demasoni striping a while back on the cichlid forum, but didn't quite follow it at the time.. Frenchy might have a more of an idea about it. I have seen nicely striped Demasoni but there are a mixed lot that have been imported it seems. I have found I have two females that have thrown ones with different striping. I just recently noticed this, however the females have nice straight lines, so do the males. Ryan and I were only just recently talking about this also. My question also is.. will "mis marked" still breed nice straight lines if they have come from good parents?
  14. They would probably much prefer the light coloured very soft fine sand that you can get, yet I do know of people that have kept kuhlis and loaches with riversand as substrate. One of the reasons why sand is much better for earth sifting Geos is the fact it is not harsh on the insides of their mouths and gill plates... Sometimes Geos can also get larger substrate ie stones etc caught, and it's not good.
  15. It is fine but reasonably heavy, I went with that as I didn't want a very light sand that flies up all over the place if that makes sense It is your basic dark grey river sand
  16. 25-30kg bags from the landscape suppliers are $7 a bag... or if I bought 4 it was $22 for all 4 bags, that's only of course up this way, I am sure landscapers down that way might run the same sort of deals?
  17. Well rinsed and cleaned and it should be ok, yet I have gone and purchased my sand from a local landscape supplier, nice dark grey fine river sand.. Jurus look nicer on darker substrate (as do most fish) IMO

    Demasoni Fry

Well I haven't tried to cram 16 babies into my mouth so Alan must have been referring to the fish
  19. You could be right there Frenchy, she might just be feeling the need to be mother material and have scooped up a few pebbles, with everything in the tank wanting to breed, I am thinking maybe she's just got a little carried away  She is certainly doing a good job so far, swilling them around  And if she has managed to spawn with something then it is either the Peacock or a male Fron (of which I doubt??)
  20. Absolutely stunning fish but they can certainly live up to their name
  21. Possibly this silly old bat has done just that... probably picking up on all the Fronny hormones buzzing around the tank, she thought she would get in on the action...
  22. Hmm yeah majorly puzzled.. would be interesting to see what they are.. grow them on enough to find out I guess then give one of the fish a few tasty morsels  I am pretty much stumped  Got me eyeing up our new 6fter for some duboisi now.. too late tho, it's the Green Terror tank
