  1. I've heard mixed reviews on the fx5, some say it's not cracked up to what it is made out to be... others like them...

    We use teaspoons

The buffer recipe works very well if you are thorough with measurements and when water changes are done, the right amount is added... not a disaster if you are careful... many african keepers use this method overseas. Running externals or sump with crushed shell or coral is a good option.
  5. Enough to make an African native tribe a couple of blue dolphin fritters...
  6. Yeap they look very much like them.. 8)
  7. Yours look like the Goldens that are at hubbys work, that is the link above... they had Rockets in too, they were gorgeous too.. loved the darkness of them against the ones that came in as "Goldens"
  8. Here is a good link Paul... and has picture option too.. http://fish.mongabay.com/species/Nannostomus_beckfordi.html
  9. Heya Paul What did you buy them as? I know there were ones that came in as Rockets and Goldens from the suppliers... look similar to ones at hubbys work...
  10. Yeah I saw some import demasoni come in with that and also have seen zebs develop it too... and as Ryan says, seems harmless

  12. It's definately not a Bumblebee cichlid... The states have access to heaps of species of fish that we don't have here...

Here is a good buffer recipe... Epsom Salt Marine Salt Baking Soda Instructions For every 5 (20 litres) US Gallons of water, add 1-tablespoon Epsom salt, 1-teaspoon baking soda, and 1-teaspoon marine salt. (You don't have to use the marine salt, only if desired)
  15. I would treat him in hospital tank.. that way you aren't putting Melafix (if you are going to use it) in the main tank.
  16. Oh heck strike 2
  17. Can see the pic 8) Definately looks like an injury... You could use a bit of Melafix, it is fantastic stuff with healing wounds... I got an Oscar that had been given the once over by another fish, he was in a bad state... Melafix worked brilliantly... the healing process was so much quicker too.
  18. Do you proof read yours David R?
  19. Can't view any of the pics... do you use photobucket?
  20. They were on the list not so long ago... could still be maybe.. you will have to grow them on a bit tho to sex them... if you breed them, you will have a heap of live food for fish keepers, as rather a few people end up parting with them because they are "pain in the butt". The males and females can end up killing each other too, some are bred with a partition between the two, depends on the fish and their aggression
