    Storing ASW

And it's ok to aerate the whole container even if you intend to only use a portion?

    Storing ASW

Is there any harm in mixing up a big batch of ASW and storing it in an air-tight container? Cheers, Bubs!
  3. Cool. Any video footage or photos? I thought clams needed a pristine environment before they spawned

  8. Anyone have some spare Mag chips I can chuck in my Ca reactor? Cheers
  9. Did some tests on my tank and found my calcium had dropped somewhat in relation to my alkalinity. Ca: 300 mg/l Alk: 12 dkh Mag: 1200 pH: 8.0 Still tuning my Ca reactor, but the effluent alkilinity has now settled on 40 dkh. Had been running a little higher than that for a while. Have dosed Seachem Advantage Calcium twice since yesterday, but the calcium hasn't budged yet. Is this normal? Should I just continue with the additional calcium doses until it reaches proper levels? Any thoughts appreciated. Cheers, Bubs!
  10. Absolutely. Keep in mind though that these changes are not sudden, and you should notice it over time. I tuned mine when the tank went up about 5 weeks ago, haven't touched it since. For the sudden changes that cause the water level to rise there's always your backup overflow

  12. I very much agree with the above. Another thing to consider is that due to our import laws fish have already spend a fair amount of time in holding before getting to the LFS. So it's not like overseas where they're 'fresh' from the ocean. I usually ask the LFS to hold fish for me. It's the strangest thing, but spotting a fish I want is generally inversely proportional to how much I can afford it at that very moment Bubs

Bored at work se been doing a bit of reading: http://www.reefkeeping.com/issues/2006-03/rhf/index.php http://www.reefkeeping.com/issues/2006-04/rhf/index.php http://www.reefkeeping.com/issues/2006-05/rhf/index.php Thought I'd throw it out there and see what people's opinions are: - Won't use - Don't use - Intend to use Bubs

    Feeding

1 x cube of frozen food each day. I alternate between mysis, green tucker and marine tucker. Leave it to defrost for about 15 minutes then chuck it in a fish net for a good rinse under the tap. Fish start flipping out when they see the blue net approaching the tank

  20. How about something like this? http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=70832537 I use $10 digital timers from the supermarket and have had no issues with them. Then again my halides only amount to 650W.

    Venturi

Thanks for that. Getting Berlins tuned surely is a black art. I'm gonna run my 2 off a L6 which should improve things markably. Also can't help but think that part of their sub-optimal perfmance is due to how I've installed them. So that will get addressed soon too.
  22. REALLY! Can I have your Berlins then!
  23. It's lifted from the end of this thread: http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&%20threadid=554786 Well worth spending a couple of days reading it
