  2. oh and plants arnt for this tank just housing them till its ready. thats why there not planted
  3. yes double 4ft ....... for a xtra $20 get a jager heater. you will only need one 150w and it will never let you down best heaters money can buy http://www.trademe.co.nz/Home-living/Pets-animals/Fish/Pumps-filters/auction-86179311.htm for a filter i recomend fluval..... only ever used fluval or sump filters IMO go sand for the bottom. just go to a pool or water filter shop and you can get a big sack for $20 and its nice and clean..... have a look at this pic ive just done a breeding tank put sand in straight from the bag (as i always do) 20 mins ago and not much murkyness or anything and the fish love it and it holds the the plants in well if your going to plant it...... thats my 2 cents worth
  4. glad to hear the clowns are going great for you catty....... your angels will be fine and also kribs will be fine (might pay to make sure you have plenty of hidi holes for them all) ....... they will go with most community fish ..... ive had them with BGK's ,, sevs ,, parrots,, kribs ,, rams ,, jups ,, suris ,, discus and the list goes on..... get your bigger tank and more clowns.. and fill it up(slowly) and enjoy :bounce: :bounce:
  5. good on you for getting them...... you will have hours of enjoyment watching them now
  6. yip i agree they will be fine in a 3ft for a while....
  7. yes they are one of my fav fish too...... they just have such a cool look about them..... hope you get a bigger tank so you can have some...... better to keep a few together rather than just one IMO

    Jager Heaters

all the jager heaters ive owned have been fully under the water and never had any probs......... best heaters money can buy the jagers.
  11. cool jasmine what size is it??? (tank i mean)
  12. heres another one and i didnt think this one would ever be up for sale.. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Home-living/Pets-animals/Fish/Fishbowls-tanks/auction-80663626.htm
  13. will be fine as long as are able to put bracing in the right places.... i only used 12mm mdf on my last one with 55 x 30mm pine bracing and its holding 500kgs with ease..
  14. any paint for me..... been doing it for 15 odd yrs and not had many problems. i seen one i made 7yrs ago sell on trademe the other week and apart from the paint needing a few touch ups the mdf was still fine.....of course remember if your going to spill lots and lots of water you may have a few probs..... thats my thoughts..
  15. sump filter saves both those problems..... water gets airation as it drips into the sump and you can put a bubble wall in the sump if you want to make sure.. and if you run 2 canisters you have double the amount of power used + more hoses to exit and enter the tank (ugly IMO) and before someone says it ... ill shut up about sumps filters now
  16. IMO go jager for the heater.... yes costs a little more but will last for years & years longer than the cheapies.. heres a link to a new one http://www.trademe.co.nz/Home-living/Pets-animals/Fish/Pumps-filters/auction-80132100.htm i use the 150watt model in my 300l tank and it does the job easy filter wise if your still to get the tank why dont you go sump filter... much better and then you can hide all the heaters e.t.c in the sump .... just buy a cheap 2ft tank off trademe and get a bit of glass cut from a glass shop(cheap as) to glue in as baffes then get a cheap pump of trademe then add some bio media and youve got a good filter for under $150.... i did a friend one like this for under $100 and its doing a 360l tank with easy.... thats my 2 cents worth

    HELP!

you edited that quick reef .... saying that the store would replace the fish is a load of rubbish ..... they would more likely make a comment like "oh sir you must have done something wrong but oh well we took your money"
  18. hire a grinder .... will make the job easy and only cost a few dollars
  19. CONGRATS my partner hates me going there as i end up talking to harold for hours.... hes just such a welth of info..... and a great bloke to chat to
  20. skimmer is a "sea clone 100" the hose goes into where the sponge attaches to the maxi pump (which is under water) then you use the little black thing(sits outside of the water) on the end of the hose to tune how much air is sucked into the skimmer....
  21. yes T5 is the best IMO its cheaper to buy the ballast and end caps and make the light unit up your self...... i did my 4ft set up for $50 + bulbs.... cant beat that sorta price...... go T5 you wont look back
