  1. Welcome . Bristlenoses seem to be quite popular at the moment. I just got 7, Ira just got 8, Chris just got however many survived from the 6 sent to him by Goldie + one he bought. Good luck with the (Corys / Cories?).

    Hiya!

If you find convincing wives difficult, try convincing parents when you live in their house!
  3. Unfortunately the magic was too strong, passed straight through Ira, and hit pies too.
  4. Ira, your wish is granted. Hocus Pocus, Alakazam! Please note that my site is incredibly slow so the loading will take ages. Since the slow connection won't be your computer, you can just open it in a new window, browse other stuff, then look at it in 5 minutes.
  5. I think had some of this algae too. I don't know whether it was the same type, but until about a week ago one of my tank had quite a few blackish tufts of algae on the glass. I added some large mystery snails and they appear to have eaten all of them now.
  6. Having found out how cheap and easy the train is, there is a serious risk that I might invade your club as well .
  7. The trouble is that the disease seems to spread by conversation. If you stick two people in a room , one infected and one not, but the infected one is gagged, the disease won't spread. With the internet, communication has become so much easier that we can expect a boom in the rate of infections until the fish-keeping bug ('FKB') causing MTS is as much of a global epidemic as HIV causing AIDS. The trouble is that if you publish statistics on it in a newspaper you only spread it more!

    corys

If you have a free tank then the best possible method would be to put them in there with a heater and decrease the temperature by a couple of degrees each day to slowly change it without giving them a shock. This is probably a bit excessive though.
  9. I made quite a lot of russian fudge this evening so I'll bring it along as an extra for the BBQ . Also, if anybody wants some free guppies I can spare 4 or 5 of each sex.
  10. Internal wet/dry? How on earth would that work?
  11. Tira...mi...su Just thinking about it makes me hungry.
  12. I doubt the voting is still open, but I'd vote for tiramisu, my favourite dessert. It doesn't look like there's much support for it though. I wonder why? Tiramisu contains the two most delicious substances on earth (coffee and chocolate, of course) plus all sorts of other tasty stuff.

    hello

Welcome, hope you find something to help you with live seahorse food here .
  14. Janey, it seems that heaven just got an internet connection . Ask Ira, he got an email from god just yesterday. (Please note that I don't actually know anything about this email, it wasn't a joke (as far as I know) like Ira's email)
  15. Sorry about the late notice but I would like to come . Please could you send me the address for the BBQ. My email is interfecus@hotmail.com.

    Hello!

Damned inanga fish. I lost tons of marks on a question in the bursary bio exam based on them. It was asking about why they're considered endangered and I talked about overfishing when they wanted environmental damage  . Anyway, welcome to our little community

    brown algae?

I didn't notice that there was a second page and Rob had already answered  .

    brown algae?

sumo, apparently the b/ns like to eat a bit of wood for the fibre in it.
  19. It could be a nauplius, but only if it isn't segmented, has 3 pairs of legs, and one eye. Crustaceans have some of the oddest life cycles imaginable. If in doubt, just call them "first instar shrimp" or "small shrimp" or, even simpler, "those little shrimpy things".
  20. Depends on the hole. A hole is the best crack-stopper possible but drilling it can cause minute fractures in the glass. Theoretically, a tank riddled with perfect tiny holes would be better than a solid one when it comes to cracking, but might be worse in other respects
  21. I love b/ns. Good luck on raising your newest couple of million babies . That makes a lot of cucumbers.
  22. Melanotaenia, plants will be just as good as filamentous algae for absorbing nutrients and will be far less dangerous. On one occasion, ages ago, we kept a tank in the house that became overrun with thread algae. The fish kept getting trapped in the strands of algae, each up to 5cm long, and getting smothered by it. The last fish to get tangled up and die was our bristlenose, my favourite fish at the time, who couldn't eat it because it was so thick.
  23. Nice site, the corals look great. Please note that"Invertibrates" should be "Invertebrates" though . Good luck with the tank.
  24. Wouldn't the ink in the newspaper get into the tank? Most black newspaper ink is non-toxic but the coloured inks are often poisonous so you should be careful.
