  2. How's the tank coming along creative?
  3. Looking good. Keep the pics coming. Keen to seen the outcome.
  4. Thanks Tsar. I will let you know in a day or two. Have been offered one at a good price. Morning Keri
  5. LOL Caper. Well when I do go to vaccum, I will try to get in between the plants, just to suck up what gets trapped in there. But not too much though, as my plants would go hungry lol.
  6. I don't vaccum at all at the moment. No syphon. Just suck the water out and replace it.
  7. Thanks for your comments Caper. I like it too. Now, at this stage I'm not vaccuming, as I kinda broke my syphon. So I'm just using a length of garden hose to drain water. I need to vaccum the bottom though, as I have a green water problem, which I'm guessing is coz of the debris on the bottom from all the plants. Only feeding my fishies once a day and changing water twice a week.
  8. HeHe I forgot about my dragons. Just got one or two lol.
  9. Oh noooo. So many great colour suggestions, I'm now even more confused lol. Perhaps I should paint it multi coloured.
  10. I'm no expert, but those look like males to me. The fin/gonopodium looks just like my boy.
  11. Hi sorry about your eel. How old is he? Is it possible he could be suffering the efects of old age?
  12. Tank is coming along nicely evil. Good job. Mine stayed cloudy for quite some time, due to the sand, but it has come right now. Just have to contend with green water lol.
  13. The room is warm in both respects. The pale blue walls have been drowned out by all the tans and browns in the room. I'm a fan of natural wood colour, so most of my shelves and cabinets are wood coloured. Will try for a pic of the lounge.
  14. Hi there. What else is in the tank with your neons? When were they put into the tank? How big is the tank and is it planted? I reckon for the next couple days, you can keep your eye on its behviour. If it doesn't improve or your concerned you can catch it and put it into another tank. It may be shy or it could be feeling off colour. I'm sure someone else will have something helpful to add too. Good luck with your fish.
  15. If your keen you can get under the house and check the piles around where your planning on putting the tank. If you think it needs a little extra support you can whack a couple old railway sleepers under the floor.
  16. Believe it or not, I actually like the orange. I can guarantee it will be a big NO on that colour though. Have been looking at wine reds. Hard to find one just right. Had a house where the lounge was painted a deep wine red. Outstanding colour. Rory what programme are you using to colour the cabinet?
  17. Thanks for the suggestions. Something to think about.

    Hi, I'm new!

    Welcome on board
  19. Hey Rory, I'm loving the dark wine red colour suggestion. Hmmmmmm
  20. Thanks for the positive vibes guys. The room has light blue walls, but the rest of the decore is natural earth tones browns, tans etc. Thought about staining it, but that will show up where were have bogged the screw holes etc, so it has to be paint.
  21. Hellooo. So here we are roughly a month n a bit after turning on the tank. Not a bad home job, considering we only had the tank to start. Just stuck on what colour to paint it. Any suggestions? lol Ok First pic is the whole project so far. The second pic, is how my tank looks now. There are 72 fish in there, and I have lots of different types. I think 17 different types of fishies. To be honest, I have no idea what alot of the plants are, so I was completely random in where I planted their jungle.
  22. 6 of them are young and two are adults, and neither my boy or girl go digging in the sand.
  23. Try a bristle nose catfish or two. I have 8 in my tank, which has a sandy base. They don't dig it up and my plants stay anchored. I'm not usually a betting woman, but I bet your tank will look 100% better when you do the water change. Also you've chosen some nice plants, so that is going to make it look even better. You will also have some happy active fishies, which will just add that X factor to your tank. Hope you get some photos and share with us.
  24. Hi creative. I honestly doubt you will stress the fish out by doing a 50% water change. If anything you will probably find they will LOVE you for it, and swim in the new fresh water as your adding it. As for fast growing plants, I suggest Indian Fern, fine or broad leaf. It is rather hardy(I have found) and it grows fast. It will grow tall as well as branching out, so it would be best towards the back of your tank.
