  1. I'll definitely give them a try then.. I thought they would recycle the boxes back to the (vaccine) suppliers.
  2. Thank you for all the suggestions. Whilst these are all good suggestions, and I'll definitely try them out, I would also be interested in a more reliable source (in terms of availability) where I can purchase from. I remember getting a pretty decent quote from a place in Auckland when i made some inquiries earlier on this year, but can't seem to retrace my steps to find them again..
  3. hi guys, I am looking to get some polystyrene boxes for shipping fish. Can I get some suggestions as to where I can purchase them in Auckland? Thanks!
  4. When i see fish with dropsy.. it gives me goosebumps... :-?
  5. Like lying on their side making it look like they are dead!
  6. I haven't had otos before but I have Siamese algae eaters (SAE) or black-lined flying foxes as they are often labeled in the shops, and they are fantastic at eating the hair algae.
  7. They do thrash about when you net them out and put them on your hand.. but will eventually settle down.. not something I recommend you do as it does stress the fish out..
  8. Easiest way would be to net them out and then pop them on your palm..
  9. Or how about bristlenoses.. they are a good first egg-layer to have a go at.
  10. lol.. true. He's quite happy now as a number of ladies have been visiting his cave
  11. I agree! They are awesome in a group and great pics there! I'm sure they are very happy about the sand.
  12. The Siamese Algae Eater (SAE) is very good at eating the black beard algae. I have noticed that in the Jansens and HFFs in Auckland, they are labeled as Black Line Flying Foxes. Good luck with whatever you decide to go with. Have a look at this site for the subtle differences between the SAE, false SAE etc.
  13. Lots of suggestions above, but I'd like to add the Black Line Flying Fox if you have any blackbeard/hair algae problems. These guys are fantastic at eating it all away!

  15. Awesome pics Luke. Post more pics as they get bigger...
  16. Have a look on the floor around or behind the tank - the clown loach may have launched itself out of the tank..
  17. Sometime in the near future I hope.. Will be rather busy writing my thesis :-? and playing with my new DSLR camera..
  18. Here's a nice shot of one of the males guarding the entrance of the cave...
  19. Thanks for the comments guys. I'm having so much fun with this new camera, its got so many features to play with and the pics are nice and crisp.
  20. Apologies for the inconvenience. Photobucket has resized them to 1024x684 but I'll reset that to 640x480 and reload them. Done.
  21. Well I decided to upgrade my point-n-shoot camera and purchased my first DSLR camera. I got the Canon 400D which came with the kit lens. Here a few decent pics of my first attempt at using the camera with the kit lens. Hope you guys enjoy. My large Bosemani rainbow (at least 3 years old now): Red Irian rainbow: Left side of my 4 foot tank: My group of clown loaches (3-5 years old): Some of the clown loaches snuggling at the front glass: Reloaded as 640x428 size (reduced from 1024x768).
  22. It might be.. I have no idea to be honest. Give thepufferforum.com a try - you might have more luck there.
  23. And can we take the fish after the auction?
  24. I'm glad you guys like the caves. I'll make another batch sometime soon when I find the time. I might try and get some clay tiles (as oppose to the bathroom tiles) for a more natural look.
  25. Bad luck there danilada. It usually pays to ask for a pic of what is actually being sold.
