  1. I dont think anyone will beat this..... http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/big-tank-project-vt17220.html
  2. Discus as a rule of thumb need 40L's or 10 gallons each, so in a 70 gallon you could fit 7 or so.... HTH
  3. Well, to be honest, my favourite tank on these forums (that i know of) Is antwans tank when it looked like this... I loved it!!
  4. Yea all of the echinodorus species are awesome, i have about 6 different kinds in my tank  YES! I got a HUGE amazonicus this morning and it looks sooo cool!!
  5. Yea would be good to know, i have a few corals and i dont feed/dose them with anything so would like to know what i would need. Im on the same boat as you helifax, I am going for mainly softys, but i do have some LPS and even an SPS i was given... Good idea!!
  6. There is more than 1 person here running a marine tank without a skimmer, i can think of 2 that i know straight away (me and steve-s) mind you, our tanks are only 30 Litres.... I think you mean, i know of 1 person here who runs a large marine tank (not nano or anything) who doesnt run a skimmer blah blah blah etc.... It can be done, but i, even though i dont have a skimmer, would advise having one....(my tank cant fit one) Also, dont use tap water for top up, i have no skimmer, and use tap water for top up ( at the moment anyways) and my tank is BROWN!!!! corals are looking good, but lots and lots of brown algae and cyano....
  7. Salt yes, discus yes, geos yes, little fish yes.... Just have 4 of them luke
  8. Yer but you can see the large amount of plants and some fish... Looks good to me... How about a close up pic of the tank to satisfy us??
  9. I am SOOO going on a road trip once thats running!!! Planted discus display tank jim?
  10. That is a hang of alot of stuff there caryl!! Is that pic recent? Tank looks good in that pic...
  11. Yea looks wicked to me aswell!! Get the bigger tank, AND a bigger piece of wood
  12. I had jebo heaters for years, and despite everybody saying they were crap, i still used them and found them to be fine, but then they all crapped out, and i am now one of those people who say they are crap  You can buy Aqua one cf1200's on trademe for about $140, or a jebao 1200 LPH canister for around that aswel....
  13. Yea just what those too said, it is most probably the sun. Do you dose any fertiliser for the plants? I found that my tank went green if i overdose ferts... But IMO it will be the sun, black the sides and back of the tank out, and it should get better....
  14. You will need to buy a gravel vac from somewhere, Your LFS will have them They look like what the person in this pic is holding, and is demonstrating how you do it
  15. Zuchini is your friend!!! When my BN breed i put all the baby into one of them floating isolation tanks by themselves, and gave the fresh zuchini (well i have used cucumber mainly but zuchini is better) everyday. This is how i have raised over a hundred BN babys, and im pretty sure whiptails would be the same, just make sure you have an airstone or something in with them as i lost a huge spawn from bad water !!! HTH
  16. Nice but are those eggs white? they look it in the pic but it would just be the angle of the photo and lighting and stuf. If they are white, then they are fungused, because they are infertile. Good going though!!
  17. 3ft Aro!!! **dribbles** Keep us updated man!!
  18. So thats just over 1000 Litres.... Wow!!!
  19. Im pretty sure ive seen that last tank pictured on here before... Heres an oldish pic of my tank, nothing compared to others but it shows you what you can do 8) I have cut the tank down since that pic and re-planted alot of plants so they will fill in better, alot more to go!!
  20. If it wont hurt to use it, then try it out i say!!
  21. I meant, have you interogated them about whats going on with the tank?!?!
