  1. Yea you can get gigantia (sp?) which is illegal to keep i think, but i think theres another type which is different, but is quite wide that you can keep. Not 100% sure aye. Just go with the twisted!! yay :lol:

  7. computer fans are 12v.... (not sure if they are all 12v but i think they are.....) Wire them into a 12v powerpack and it'll be all go
  8. Yes, i prefer to have heaters vertical aswell hehe. The difference is not much, but some people worry about things like that, and depending on your fish and how picky they are then i guess that effects it. IMO it doesnt REALY matter but i thought i would point it out

But if its vertical, when it heats the water, the water goes up (convection ) and travels past the heaterstat, the heaterstat thinks that the apuarium is warm enough, so it turns the heater off and the tank isnt properly heated through... Just another thing to think about. Of course it doesnt matter if its in a high flow area....
  10. I would reccomend a 1200 litre per hour external filter. An Aqua one CF1200 or a jebo 819 would be a good start and they are at the cheap end of the scale, usualy found at around $150 ish. HTH

  15. I have heaps of BN, big and small and they dont eat plants. I have marbled, amizonicus, osiris, tennellus and leapord swords and they are all fine....
  16. You could put them in a big sealed container which has holes in it and then sit them in the river until you get back 8)

  18. I emailed the people at http://www.hydroponics.co.nz and asked exactly what was in the Aquatic chelated trace element mix as i thought it could be used as the trace elements and this was the reply Seems like a good mix to me. More chemical minded people wanna say what they think? hehe
  19. http://www.hydroponics.co.nz Is a good store for chemicals. They also have other items like lights and heaters at good prices. They have VERY good customer service. When i need to get some more PMDD im going to make my own and that is where il be getting the checmicals from
