Theres an excellent picture resizing tool that you can download by following the link in this post http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/resizi ... 12896.html It is a little way down the right hand side i think. All you need to do is download it, install it, then once you have done that, just right click on the pic you want to resize and choose 'resize pictures', another box will come up, make sure its set on small and click ok. A duplicate of the original will be made in the same file, and it will be smaller. I find small is perfect for these forums. HTH

You could do them weekly if you wanted too, but to be honest, i haven't done a water test in ages. Even after i got my 13 demasoni from Ryanjury and put them into a 50L tank, i haven't done a water test in the couple months i've had them. As long as you keep up with your regular water changes, and the fish are looking happy, then you shouldn't need to do alot of water tests. You could do it fortnightly or monthly to be really sure, its up to you

Now all we need are PHOTOS!!!!
  6. Baby brine shrimp. Start feeding now Microworms, start feeding now aswell
  7. I hope your missus doesn't read these forums Paul
  8. No fish NEEDS a light. Lights are only for plant growth and/or viewing pleasure. If you dont want a light on their tank then dont use one.
  9. Wouldn't cost anything, just give them a small slip of paper with 'www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom' written on it
  10. Looks sorta like a giant danio shape wise, but cant see any patterns or striations on it so yea.....
  11. Plants should have 6500 - 8000K bulbs. You can spend $30 on one tube from the pet shop, or you can go to the wholesalers and get 3 for $30. Pet shop ones are more expensive because of the brand name
  12. Some guys on another NZ forum recently did a bulk order of NLS food (i think it was NLS) and ended up getting a fair bit in. The point was never raised about limits so it must have been sweet.....
  13. Not if you practice and do it right, then it becomes easy
  14. DEMASONI times hundreds!!!!!!! YEEEEEHAAAAAAAAA
  15. Hatching BBS isnt hard, and would be very easy for you to do since you live so close to the sea. All you need is an old coke bottle with the bottom cut off, hanging in your tank upside down, with an airstone in it. Then you just go to the beach and get some saltwater and fill the bottle up, stick half a teaspoon or so of brineshrimp eggs and 24 hours later you have baby brine shrimp ready to feed out. all you need to do then is take the airstone out of the bottle, wait for it to settle, then syphon out, or use a turkey baster to get out all the bright orange stuff from the bottom, squirt it into your tank and yea...... I have 3 bottles of it going at a time
  16. Thanks for the Danios They've eaten some brineshrimp already 8)
  17. Didn't cichlid7 offer you a pair in another thread for $150? (IIRC) You would be paying at least that for 6 babys plus postage. Why not buy a pair....
  18. You can just put them here, or in freshwater. Doesn't really matter too much
  19. Well say if you were to make a 600 x 300 x 300 tank with a permanent divider in the middle that would make it two 300 x 300 x 300 tanks. So would 3mm glass be suitable for a 300mm cube tank? Im not sure. I know i wouldnt want to make a tank that size with that thickness glass but is it possible? Barrie will be the best person to answer that question
  20. Yea i wouldn't risk using 3mm on a 600 x 300 tank Asking for trouble. I would use it on something like a 20L tank max.
  21. Hey Rebecca! Nice to see you here, Fair enough i guess, since me and Barrie and others frequent your forums   You will find this a cool place! P.S. you should stick up pics of your fishroom for us all!
  22. Its best to put the bloodworm cube(s) into a fine net and rinse them under running water for about 30 secs to a minute until they are defrosted (hot water dos it instantly lol) and then put them in without the juices. the bloodworm juice contains large amounts of phosphate so that will be why you are getting green water
  23. LOL. I remember doing that too, and now i havent used a test kit in years, heck, i hardly even cycle tanks anymore. I just chuck the fish in that i want and let them breed. I do daily water changes though  My finger is the best temperature gauge, and agreed about the filter flow rate 8)
