you can use double doses of furan 2 on plecos/other armoured cats but im not sure if you can on loaches, theyre both scaleless so maybe something work looking into? good luck

first things first your vet- well he doesnt know too much about axies lol. is she a wildtype or melanoid? if shes wildtype they can get some wierd colouring, normally greyish patches though so a pic would definatly help. does it look like shes peeling sort of? the ratio for salt baths is 2tsp-1L of water (some use more some use less), heres the link to the salt site http://www.axolotl.org/health.htm, it tells you the ratio further down, of course if its not a skin problem salt wont work. being a old girl it could just be age, but do pay us a visit on www.axolotl.org and ask there on the forums (best axie site on the net i reckun), joan or ed may have some further advice for what may be the causes. have you checked your water parameters also?

tsk tsk caryl- must get the hubbie doing his chores!!!
-
most cichlids pick out the unfertile eggs so if they get fungus it doesnt spread to the healthy ones. have they actually got wrigglers or fertile eggs before? maybe your two are the same sex or one of the is infertile?
-
ralphie- wetsuit and rake for collecting  ... i used to get my little sister to get it for me when we had our old pond, one day she fell in and was clinging to a rock screaming like she was dying, then she realised it was only thigh high.... yip, my sister aint the brighest

much better, holds more media which equals more benifical bacteria, and they look better than a big ugly filter in your tank
-
looks like its getting to the middle of a cycle. do daily water changes of around 30% for your danios (bet theyre not too comfortable right now!!), just dont clean gravel, filters etc. you can change the water without worrying about disrupting your cycle as not much of the benefical bacteria is suspended in water. keep testing daily and you should see your ammonia and nitrite drop down to nothing after a few more weeks (approx). your nitrates could be pretty high so do a partial water change before you add your fish Hope this helped
-
worms maybe? worms can make them not want to eat, maybe hex also? has nothing changed at all in the tank ie added more fish etc? do you age your water (reason i ask is sometimes after rains etc water companies add certain chemicals that are nasty and can make discus go wierd). are they darker? sorry i couldnt be of more help! maybe a nice big water change would perk them up a bit?

feel free to punch me in the face for this question  , its very stupid but why does the second pic down have a circle out of his fin?
-
do you have access to a larger spawning tank? reason being unless they get down to business fairly quick it would be quite cramped, also unless you want to have a go at looking after your own fry youd want to leave them with the parents, and the wrigglers would most certanly fall prey to the jag!! how bout dividing the tank up? have a look at alans post in the discus baby post, good way there and that way no bubbas can get through! that way theyd have alot of room and wouldnt have to get stressed from moving tanks etc. do a google search on breeding sevs, should get some helpful tips and info

sorry to hear about your loss, sucks to lose plecos aye

Opaline Gourami - eggs are everwhere HELP!
sharn replied to Aaron_fish_mad_guy's topic in Freshwater
just to elaborate on the tight lid, humidity part just incase your not sure why to do that its because gouramis can breath air and while the baby fishies are developing their labyrinth (air breathing organ) they need warmer air, preferably the same as the water im told so as not to damage the development of the labyrinth. -
hmmm, probably not, even two in a standard two foot (average size, 15-20cm) would be a bit cramped id imagine water changes can kick start their spawning. sorry i couldnt be of more help

'as one of my Severums has Lympho and when he has outbreaks of cysts they get bacterial infections in them'. (taken from my mates PM) like you said, will only help secondary infections but itd be worth a shot if you dont want to kill him? you can use double doses safely
-
tis me who lost the pleco. seeing as you had those plants die maybe it caused a small ammonia spike due to the rotting stuff? id dose the tank with epsom salts right away (1tbp per 10 gall/40L) just incase its constipation. feeding shelled peas can also help if its constipation. go to the link in that link (lol!!) does your pleco look like mine? if after you give your substrate a good clean, if you see no improvement it could be parasites, double doses of furan 2 can help if you catch it in time (dont have to remove salt). i moved my pleco to a 40L bin for treating so i didnt have to use so much meds. hope we can work out what the problem is, work fast though, even though theyre hardy fish if you wait too long you could lose em ive heard ghost knives can be sensitive to meds so i wouldnt treat the pleco in the tank

wow hes a lovly, stunning, amazing, spectacula, amazing, stunning fish!!! i do have a soft spot for albinos i must admit lol
-
i have a friend who has a sev with lympho she says that furan 2 works awesome. she uses double doses. just my two cents
-
scalless fish you have to do half doses on do you have carbon in your filters? maybe thats taking it out?
-
i think he might mean airpumps? you attach airline to them and put a diffuser on the end (air stone). put the air stone in the tank and voila lots of teeny bubbles helping to keep the water airated (and the eggs with fresh oxygen) you can get sponge filters too for fry/egg tanks, theyre not harsh enough normally to suck anything into them and keep the water just that little bit clearer. with some fish you will see them fanning the eggs, its to supply them with fresh oxygenated water. goldfish dont look after their young so you will need to try keep them oygenated yourself. (note- sharn doesnt know much about breeding fish whose parents dont look after the young so if any info is incorrect im sure it will be corrected soon enough )

yeah, poor girl. buried her just after rogan left to the band she was named after (marduk)
-
good news i think... epsom salts have made her feel better, releived some internal pressure i think as shes not going up for air as much. shes now been moved to a spare 40L bin i used for aging water and i have dosed her with Furan 2. she seems no worse so i am hoping for the best. morrigan (a catfish lady) and frans said it seems like a parasite and from the info they gave me i agree, so im hoping i take these little bastards out and save my little marduk!!! got all my fingers and toes crossed

caryl, now i know you know ALOT more than me but ive always been told that they cant... got a link where i can read about it? love to learn more!! forgot about the gonopdium youll be able to tell from that if its a male, looks like a anenomies tube sorta... http://images.google.co.nz/images?svnum ... gonopodium theres a google search i did and it shows you a guppies one, looks the same though

too young. some male swords can be full grown and still not have their 'sword' thats why alot of people think they 'change sex' but really theyre just late bloomers  not too sure how long it takes them on average to get to a sexable size, i just know they can take a while to grow

i prefer tropicals because theres more selection. also the cichlids have ALOT more personality IMO, like oscars, jags etc etc, of course your tank would be too small for them but something like convicts, angels, kribensis (really colourfull) would be great in there. there is a fairly good range of the ornatmental goldfish, those ones that have growths on their heads etc etc, but who wants to pay 90-200 bucks for one of them when you can pick up tropicals that are colourful, take less work and are more 'owner responsive'- not to mention alot cheaper! up to you though of course, if you really love goldfish keep them! i always found my goldfish tanks to be alot of work, they make alot of mess. have a look at www.fishprofiles.com might see something you like on there.. have fun making your decision!!
