im running a 4 way plug with a two heaters (200W and 100W), air pump and filter, the other plug above it has a extenstion cord running to the other side of the room with a 4 way plug housing 2 large filters, a light and a 300W heater. all is fine so far but all the mulitplugs have circut breakers on them just in case, im very concious of the over load

wow! what do they call that type? its really nice with that lone stripe running through his body and fins, at least youll be able to see him everyday in his kiddies

mm im keepin an eye on my newly aquired albino yeeehaaa first i seen in nz so im super stoked about 'him', i know auckland zoo has one and im sure there would be another couple floating around nz. mwahahaha got my golden for 50, i was so stoked when she upped the price, boy do i love getting good deals lol. you get yours off angie too? have you registerd on the axie forum? bet it was temp, i feel sorry for the aussie owners, there are so many people whose axies die from the heat because they dont know how to cool the tank, and for most people a chiller is just too expensive, im sure half of aussies axies spend the summer in the fridge lol

IMO itd be fairly stocked but all of those fish are relatively small averaging 3cm or so. as long as you keep up on those water changes youll be fine since your doing water changes daily you probably wont get much ammonia reading unless you do the test before you do the water changes. wait a few more weeks before you miss a day and see what the reading is after that. sounds like your on the right track now

we wont! we just love answering questions cause how else do we spread out MTS??? lol

when they eat pebbles it can block em up and sometimes make em float. however its not normally upside down and i was just adding that bit about pebbles for further refererence. people, dont keep your axies on gravel!!!!

spot on me love fishy! angels are well known for eating neons! i myself had a neon eater (gave it away). its not every angel but you do get the odd one that develops a taste for those little fish. i used to find neons with just their heads bitten off or their stomachs ripped out (sorry about the graphicness lol). i dont think the angel would be hiding, youd spot it somewhere, check all the decorations it could fit into and around the back and sides of the tank (around the bottom). if it was still lying around outside the tank you'd smell it alright! so my guess was that your cat or dog had a tasty little snack

apparently they are prone to it because theyre always looking down below :-? poor bugger i know i wouldnt want my eye popping out!

'shell be right' should be 'its cycling'... if you would a link to cycling im sure someone can help you out or do a search for it. how many fish do you have in there and what filtration are you running? the bugs are more likely oppertunistic blighters who only take hold when your fishs immunity is down due to stress from the cycling, once its all over and done you should see the problems subside.

welcome! and dont be put off by your new tank, theyre really easy to look after once you get some knowledge behind ya! whats in it? or should i say have you cycled it yet

sorry about your loss mmhmm those salt baths were a good reccomendation, but generally only help with skin problems. i use 1tbsp to 1 litre personally. you keep them in the bath for no more than 15 mins as the salt hurts their gills and can cause them to bleed just added that for future reference for people reading over, i can post the link to the exact thread on the salt baths if anyone wishes

http://arowanaclub.com/forum/ theres just one i picked out of the list and you could have a wee look through there to see if theres anything that looks worthwhile? if you catch it early on its fixable i think, hope s/he gets better!

probably too cold for pacus... read ages ago on here bout some guy that keep one in cold water, didnt die just never grew to its potential size, may be a good thing to him but certanly not the fish!!! wheres the national aquarium at? ahhhh if only pacus didnt grow so big... good to see youve found a home for them in advance though, alot of people EAT them when their tanks get to small, thatd be like eating your dog. apparently thats what their caught for in the wild though. lol to bruce_see, your the guinea pig now mate!

you have to be VERY careful using that stuff... i would just add some shells or something like that to harden the water naturally, or a bit of crushed coral in your filters? that way itll be kept on more of an even keel and you wont have to worry so much about the ph fluctuations. the ph up could be the cause, maybe you overdosed, mixed it wrong or its just plain faulty? i dont like using snail rid personally, something that can kill snails i assume wouldnt be too good for the fish... snails can be a good thing and some aquarists even use them as a water quality indicator, snails are alot more sensitive and if they all of a sudden die off you know somethings up. but if you have too many they will make alot of waste. i have snails in my tank (much to my disgust, i hate them) but i only pick out the ones i see. turn the light off, come back in half an hour and they should be all over the glass. or you could add a piece of zhucinni (sp?) and collect them later once they have all come to feed? did you recently add any new decor that came from tanks? if so maybe that carried something in? sorry this was so long  hows your fighter?
-
holy moly alan what size tank are they in? bigger than 1500L im guessing for that many... if only i had room for a 1000L+ tank then i might get some... the only thing id be concerned about is the fat/oil content and if it has the right vitamins etc.

first of all i will say you have done the right thing by the fridge. you need to do daily water changes while shes in there (looks like a she from pic). keep a spare bottle of water next to her container for water changes, temp fluctations will make her even worse. wrap the container in a towel to stop the light freaking her out. also lower the water level so that she can tough the bottom when shes the right way up. you need to get those stones out of there! my first thought is that shes eaten some (thats why we reccomend to keep them on sand, need some let me know) and shes blocked herself up. theres no way to un-block her except patience and alot of hope. either that or the temp has stressed her alot. come to www.axolotl.org and sign up and post this on the forum under sick axie. we have some people on there that are like books and may have other ideas of what to do. lets hope she pulls through!

the tanks a 230L soon to be discus tank (like 5 months or something, theyre only babies). and i had been advised to get the 1200L because i can turn it down if i need to and they dont mind water flow? i run atman internals on one of my other tanks, like em, might look into the canisters. will look into the jebo too, where did you get it for that price? so many choices!!! thanks monaro

id think the one with the sunken tummy had worms, the parasties would be eating its food? also buying the platy when it looked sick was probably a bad idea if you didnt qaurentine it first because it may have transferred what it had to the others? apprently tape worms will make the fish swim funny but the bulge is normmally asymmetric?could be worth looking into? sorry i cant be of more help
