nope only thing used in my filters is propogation sand and cushion fibre as a prefilter. No additives apart from the odd monthly tablespoon of wondergrow and food. .

basically the answer is no, there is nothing to say you cant transport a live trout BUT under the fisheries act 1908 you cannot keep a trout captive unless you are a member of the acclimatisation society (or fish and game) who holds the relevant permit. The same goes for introduction of species. This is from memory, so do your own research if you want to refute it.

Is there anyone in the Hamilton/Dinsdale area who is interested in fishing? I have been asked to find someone to establish and look after a tank in an office. There isnt really any pay but this is reasonably negotiable. I have suggested in exchange for a magazine subscription. There are possibly some other perks, as this is in the office of a shoestring national magazine such as freebies and the odd fishing trip etc. Is there anyone willing to help or at least think about it. Always assume you will spill lots of water. I make up fibreglass resin and then paint it on, then paint over for the camper I am renovating. Thinking of doing the same but with marine gelcoat for the base I am about to fit to a new stand.

I have to ask - didnt you realise you must strip the tank down? Some common sense prevails, keep your fish comfortable, empty your tank completely and make sure that you do the tank shift first, that way you are not tired (and fed up with moving) and make sloppy mistakes. At this point I hope you are not talking about something like a goldfish bowl or one of those pretend 1 foot tanks. Otherwise we would all look stupid.

Water is something that for the most fish doesnt need messing with. Some species need specific parameters but goldfish and 99% of the other species in NZ arent one of them. Your goldfish will be much better off on the bore water than the rainwater anyway, considering whats in rainwater and storage.

mine is with ...2 male severums, 1 sailfin pleco, 1 longfinned female eel, 1 giant gourami and 1 angel. The eel and the BGK are companions and you often find them entwined.
