  1. Mr Shovelnose Only if you can pick him up.. worth the buy IMO.
  2. Exactly my thoughts, as its 100% safer on the tank and less work. A Canister one would be ideal. As far as I know, the bracings along the front would hold more stress than the sides. Id rather change the filter than risk of bowing or cracking the tank. Just my 2c. Ive seen 3footers and 4 footer give way without adequate bracings..
  3. there is a legend and its true this!! Once you go for a big tank... youll suffer from MTS..
  4. Thanks Glad you like it, but im in the midst of rearraging the tank with some rock i got 2 weekends ago.. just figuring out the arangements, and setting up a smaller tank for my other malawians.. I owe mystic some pics lol.. coming soon, work on progress.. fishes has grown since then and has a few new occupants
  5. perfect tankmate would be mr shovelnose the one ooa has for sale.. would be ideal in that tank but not sure if it is compatible with the aro..
  6. my gouramies not only build bubble nests among floating plants but they also gather other floating debris like leaves and what not to go with thier bubble nests, a bit like nest decorating Id like to call them
  7. Marine blue and marine white should work for now I think, but someone else may have a different opinion. If I were to change the bulbs, I would keep the marine white and change the marine blue to a "Power-Glo 18,000K" tube which has served me well for planted tanks and they are a bit purple-ish white, so you wont get that yellowish lighting that youre talking about. Hope this helps
  8. I second that and totally agree.. the plants I bought off him a few years back (4?) are still surviving and growing.. But the point, everything in his shop is personally taken cared for by John. Who is very picky on the condition of almost everything.. we need more shops with personal touches like that IMO..
  9.   ".590" of a fry..
  10. Hey guys, another interesting stuff! Some of you might know tho.. But here goes.. the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium.. Enjoy

    CF1200

maybe try to add a bit more water thru that circular knob/opening thingy thats is at the top of the filter, in between the outlets? i did that with my cf700 and it completely removed all the air bubbles in the filter.. might have to do it a few times.. not sure if it helps
  13. i second that, once all the corrections made?? or finalized etc

    Hercules on TM?

spotted this on TM: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Home-living/Pets-animals/Fish/Fish/auction-88384073.htm does anyone know or seen anything like this? If it is a gold fish it then its damn HUGE...
  23. cuz they eat them pretty plants.. well, the least they do is make holes in them.. I had that problem once, but solved it with a siamese fighter.. he seems to have a sweet tooth on snails..
  24. hey there, I used those alluminium reflective tapes that you can get from bunnings like what I did. From my experience, the tapes were still stuck onto the lid when near the lights. But I only had 1 problem and that was water getting to them and causing the reflective bit to dissolve or disapear. But maybe because I did not have a glass lid in between the tank and the lights or reflectors. It may still be alright if there was a glass lid in between to stop condensation getting to the tape. Go and check out the link on my sig. I have some pics of the lid with he tapes. Hope this helps
