) yup, any smaller and you'll regret it. mines identical and perfect. i was gonna use eheim 1260 for return but its tooooo sissy now i use it for circ in the sump. return is laguna 7.....go laguna go!! 2700lts at my head height which is 5 x tank volume 8) be interesting to hear others comments on the eheim (my tanks still cycling :-?

i worried about this like anything :oops: my idea is that black gives an effect such as you cant quite see where the back of the tank is (more distance perspective) yet the reality is that as soon as youve got crap growing all over it you wont hardly ever see/remember what the colour was and this effect is lost. i gave @ 4 coats of enamel, a good roller does just as good a job as spray but no spray mist every where!! 8)

various theories about from 50%-100% water change. i've got 540lts display and alot of rock there and in sump. i figure there will be tons of bacteria in the rock alone to handle the first 2-3 fish(im guessing @ 40+kgs rock). any other excess would likely die off unless i feed ammo anyway.

look on the bright side... you can now add washing/check your washings progress without lifting the lid and interupting the cycle.....hahahahahahahaha!!!!!!

awesome i'll leave the advice to the experts but keen to see what they say, as i'm @ 2 weeks from my tank being cycled. i'm going 100% water change as my setup makes this real easy.(i can back my truck right next to my sump. how about some details on size and a pic?

i asked the question because i read somewhere that they ''polish'' the water, remove really tiny particulate matter and make the water almost disappear, due to its appearance, clarity etc...i had quite green water from howick beach which i got on the 18th. ive since collected 720lts on fri morning and done a 100% w/c. thanks to steve for use of his pump, it took 10 mins to load on board...brilliantly easy!!

im still cycling my tank and admit to knowing nothing, however the first 3 rules are 1. size matters.(if anyone tells you otherwise its because theirs is small) 2. deltec skimmer. 3. tunze streams.

yup, rule 1 on the durso site. tank fitting 32mm and durso and all drain piping 40mm same as yours

turned lights on to do above and the water is real green and lots of floaties so massive water change due asap :-?

tried all sizes of holes and now no cap at all. i did have surging early on but adjusted the pipe entry height into sump to fix that. basically ive found best results running similar to laytons design, except i cant run a 100mm drop from tank water to overflow water levels or it sounds like a waterfall due to the laguna 7. hence no head height spare capacity inside box as only about 15mm difference works, which looks pretty risky. i may have to mechanically deal to ''waterfall'' to achieve any spare capacity.
