    tels new tank

ive seen a system where pvc jointing strip (the type used to join fibro etc)is siliconed to the box so the comb just sits in it .is this good or just silicon comb straight to box?

  10. yeah thats what im contemplating doing, ive got 2x 25mm inlets to team up with a grunty pump to give a reaso portion of the flow.inlets on bottom of tank which might be abit different(tank needs to sit against wall in lounge)be good to see someones photos.
  11. 1500x600x600,10mm glass.just seems big as its my 1st and im thinking of all the l/r i need.
  12. yippie ,just got my new tank off rod last night.frig it seems big!the job hes done is awesome,i just noticed all the top and front edges are bevelled and polished as well -big bonus.great price also, highly recommended.as soon as i get my stand ill start a new tank thread with some pics,as my 1st foray into salt it should be interesting(for me anyway)
  13. can anyone suggest a good way to make reef racks/suppliers of materials?tank only a week away, stand to be made next yaa!! when i look at the start date of this thread it seems like ive been stuffing around like an old #&*@#!i better get up with the photo shiz so i can document it,seems nothing better than seeing pics of how others do it.
  14. im gonna come up @550 and have an elbow as i want the tank hard against the wall.ive got black piping to disguise them abit.ill be using an eheim 1260 to start and may plug one return, until i get the mother of pumps.thinking about putting 2x non return valves on for pump failure and count on some siphon capacity, but i really want to get inlets a little lower than the top.after seeing james tank i really want the return pump to be really grunty and provide some good effect for w/m.seeing his,im dropping the overflow @60 below top tho!
  15. thanks for everyones advice.after seeing 3 tanks off here in person, im going 32mm outlet with( 40mm durso in corner) and 2x 25mm inlets on bottom spaced out so each is 500 in from end and 500 between the two.(tank is 1500 long)im prob going to have 2x stainless end braces ala pies(no centre brace, running 2x skinny front and back braces instead) water dynamics have been really good about seeing me twice to change to larger fittings
  16. eheim dont have em,intake is quite small slot on top where flow adjustment is.
  17. take a 70lt tank and cycle till all readings are good.add a new eheim 600lt/hr powerhead.introduce a yellow tail damsel and leave to sit for 8 weeks.come home from work all enthused about my new tank im planning and buying fittings for.check in with mr fish, obviously hiding so add some food to entice him out.he doesnt respond so use a torch to look in rockwork, failing that pull all rockwork out and search.at this point notice powerhead doesnt seem to be working very well............

can you post a description of catseyes so i get the right ones, thanks.
  19. i had the almost identical problem.i ended up doing a 100% waterchange and rinsed filter wool and media.(nitrites stuck at .50)they immediately dropped to 0.25 and then to 0 within 12 hrs.ive cut back on feeding and will lightly wash out filter media in aquarium water more often.
  20. maybe ill shift it down the tank.is 25mm good for all plumbing?
  21. im wanting to keep both pipes central, so inlet will be close to overflow box
  22. ok.do you see a problem having the inlet close to the box?
  23. actually sump only 500,my typo.
