  1. i have never seen him on my power head but thats an idea. The hermit is pretty well behaved and i have never seen him anoying his tank mates... No crabs in my tank. Think i would of spoted one in the whole 80l if there was one. I guess just keeping water quality up and him well fed is all i can realy do.
  2. Tank lights just flicked on and i noticed our little scooter blennys tail is missing. The flesh looks ok and it just looks like the fin has been ripped off. Dont know what to do. Help He is the only fish in the tank. Other tank mates are one hermit crab and one cleaner Shrimp? Any ideas. He is looking pale. Is there anything i can do to promote it to heal?

same people who make the stickers make the little red boxes. They work!!! We put thoes in the room with the tanks and robo can in the hall way = no flys!
  4. Good idea. We need more trademen!!!!
  5. Wait till you get to uni. Then you will freek out!!! I went to the trouble of making an effort of passing english at 7 form level. Maybe it will help me write essay in the correct format at uni... Answer to that is a big fat No! Any one who has had to deal with APA referencing will know where im coming from.. It tends to screw you over as it seems each lecture has a diffrent way of marking what is right and what is not!.

  10. Fat yes but slower getting long.
  11. Go visit Origin Aquatics, ornates are only $75. Brillent fish. Very slow growing so your tank size should be fine for a few years but you might have to upgrade later. Also what other kinds of fish you thinking of keeping with him?
  12. Fully agree with what everyone one has said... But im curious. How meany people on here have a set up capable of holding an arowana at full size. I used to have two aro set ups but moving into a smaller house ment both had to be sold. As much as i would love to get another aro i think i will wait till i have my own house as selling the aros was a horrible experiance. Yes the price is a kick in the teeth. But i think it is very much worth it.
  13. Ask someone who is in to fish to pop in and give them some food. Eg.. me if im close by i would happly drop by and check on them...
  14. I have personaly found that bigger fish take longer to settle in to a new home. Also you need to provide lots of places for the fish to hide aswell as leaving enough room for the aro to swim. Big knife fish can be finickey. We had a royal we got at about 20 cm and he took ages to settle in and start eating. Our big clown ( diffrent tanks) settled in fast but we had to target feed him as he was not as competative for food. These two both lived with a very relaxed silver aro. Our jardinii was a menice and shredded his tank mates so we chose to keep him alown as the last thing we wanted him to do was try shred a pleco or something like that and hurt himself. The best thing you can do for the fish is provide a very large tank and have a set routine. Always feed at the same time of day, and clean tank every sunday or something like that so they know when to expect you to be doing stuf in the tank. We had to start doing this when the jardinni started to bite us. He soon lernt when to expect us and left us alown. Also Water quality is very importan with Knife fish. As some one elce has sugested it is very hard to medicated them if they get hurt so try alliminate that from happening.. Sharp wood is a big culprite ( Sorry cant speel ... Makes life more intresting )
  15. *goes sticks her head near filter* Cant hear a thing....
  16. It depends on the fish i say. Some people have problems others dont. I have a bicher and a BKG with my discus and so far everything is ok. But my big fish are very lazy and hardly swim at night as they get fed during the day and have come to expect food at the same time every day.
  17. I like the new layout! and thanks for the baby brissle star pic! Its looking good, hope everything goes well and the fish can move in soon.
  18. *Crosses her fingers* I hope you get a good batch of surviving fishys cause Nz could do with some quality betas.
