  1. Keeping discus at temperature lower than 27 degree will be asking for trouble. You don't need oceans, lakes or rivers to keep fish. How you maintain them is the key to keeping happy healthy fish.
  2. I have 6 wild discus, 5 clown loach, 3 striata loach, 1 flying fox, about 19 different bristlenose and 4 harlequin all living and growing happily in a 245 ltrs tank. They are all decent size fish too. Ron
  3. Best colour to breed to will be mustard gas HM. Don't breed with anything that carry the red colour.
  4. Agree with Ira. I have about 18 bristlenose in my 245 ltrs wild discus tank and they're fine. Ron
  5. You won't be able to get the shrimps in nz like Cam mentioned. Bristlenose sucker fish will be fine but a common pleco will grow too big for the tank. Stocking the fish depends on the type of filtration you have in the tank and how well you maintain it too. Ron
  6. You can ask the house sitter to ring me if there is a problem. Ron
  7. Welcome back Amy! Cheers, Ron
  8. I would start by doing a 50% water change and filling the tank back up with warm dechlorinated water. How did you do the fishless cycle and did you do a big water change after cycling before you introduce fish. It pay to put your location in your profile so people know where you are.
  9. You can always bring it to me to see if I can find you something similar . Ron
  10. If everyone follow the so call rules for keeping and stocking fish you will need an ocean
  11. Adding a few more otos in there won't take up much space.
  12. Alan is right. Salt and Epsom salt is totally different. Like Alan say Salt (sodium chloride), epsom salt (magnesium sulfate)
  13. Salt bath don't actually help. It's mainly for dislodging parasite on the fish body. 30 mins is way too long. If the salt solution is strong they should turn over within one minute. I wouldn't do it more than 2 minute. Put epsom salt in your tank.
  14. Make sure the current from the filter is not too strong. Fighters like calmer water.
  15. You can try adding epsom salt into the tank. Could be caused by internal flagellate . Ron
  16. You can start hatching the brine shrimp on friday.
  17. What about putting a curtain or blind on the window
  18. Just use the auto bid. If you think the stuff is worth say $50.00 to you then put a $50 auto bid on it.
  19. Put a bristlenose in the tank and it'll clean it for you.
  20. They lay eggs and need male to fertilize them. The fish pic look like a bird lol.
  21. :gopo: :iag: It all come down to how you maintain your tank. How often do you see 30+ cm clown loach. They take years to grow that big. As for the goldfish you can half fill a 20 ltrs bucket and put it in. Slowly add water from the cold water into it. Then release it into the tank. Ron
  22. The tank look really nice  The discus will settle down in a day or two. Ron
  23. It might take months or years or even getting nothing at all. :yawnn: Why do it the hard way when ready culture is available
