jetskisteve
Got a friend who's using a MCE600 hang on . Its worked fine for ages. Now suddenly throwing heaps of bubbles into the tank! Cleaned Everything nothings blocked or dirty???? Anyone had experiance with this??? No guessing please. Could it be something to do with the pump flap on the Aquabee?? cracker
is it throwing bubbles up the neck and into the cup, then overflowing back into the skimmer and so on.... If so, the aquabee has been turned on in the RIGHT position and you now need to seriously reduce the airflow through the tube. This should skim with really fine bubbles. jetskisteve
nah, just opening the tap a 10th puts mega bubbles in the tank
cracker
sounds like the hose has come off down at the pump maybe...........worth a try.
skuzza
Had similar problem with my skimmer. It is not a deltec but it had an air leak causing a millon tiny air bubbles to cloud my tank.Took a bit of finding.

chimera
is there a crack in the plastic anywhere?
Ira
It's not something like the divider between the far left chamber and the bubble chamber(Whatever you'd call that one) is missing, is it? Should be fairly obvious if it was, but if it's missing the bubbles will go straight out the outlet.
reef
For your boyfriend. If you haven't used a HOB skimmer before, you might get nervous about the large amount of air bubbles returning to the aquarium when you first start the Deltec MCE600. This is normal and will dissipate after a few days. It's due in large part to the plasticizers used on the acrylic and PVC parts. In fact, after a few days of operation, the water return from my Deltec skimmer was essentially bubble-free.

Brianemone
not even my weirpro does that, i guess you cant call that deltec a skimmer as well then.
jetskisteve
Thanks for all the help, but... its sooo bad that when you open the airtap even a small amount it makes the tank look like snow. the skimmer was running fine for over 8 months. misnoma
I am guessing however have you tried opening the airtap more than just a little bit? wondering if perhaps it's only causing insane bubbles when the tap's barely open. Interested in the outcome of this since I'm considering finding one of these.
reef
i guess you cant call that deltec a skimmer as well then. That was a funny joke Brianemone. i Might have to invest in the real quality of the weipro , would make a nice toy for the kids. I think anyone will say a weipro is good if they have not used a proper skimmer before . There is nothing wrong with the deltec as it is normal to do that . here it is the review on the deltec skimmer. http://www.advancedaquarist.com/2005/8/review
Brianemone
i should take a pic of the crap my weirpro takes out of my tank no point having a tank if you cant see it through the bubbles that your expensive skimmer is making

reef
no the reveiw says it went away in a few days and when you clean the whole thing then it will do it again. here is the quote again This is normal and will dissipate after a few days no point having a tank if you cant see it through the bubbles that your expensive skimmer is making refer to the two previous quotes . it says it goes away. wasp
I wonder if it would be worth removing it from the tank, cleaning it, then running it on another tank for a week or so, just to see how it goes, incase something strange has happened to the water in the origional tank. Then at least you could isolate is it a skimmer problem, or is it a different problem. I say that because when I set up my frag tank my skimmer did the same, REAL bad, I used some spa pool tubing for the plumbing I think it was that that did it. Took about a month and several large water changes to come right, I think there may have been some kind of mold oil or similar in the tubing. The skimmer was fine until I turned on the plumbing. (It wasn't a Deltec though).

reef
Am missing the point. Most skimmers i have used will put bubbles in the tank for a few days, and then once the slime coat build up inside the skimmer the bubbles will go away. Having had 3 deltec hangons over the past few years i have found they all do that. It is no big deal as once the skimmer is establised the bubbles are no more. misnoma
okay.. so thing to remember with the Deltec hangons is if you clean them _too_ well they'll do the bubble thing for a few days over again?
reef
yes, however not a problem as you wont be cleaning the whole thing all the time, maybe once a year, cleaning the collection cup weekly is not a problem.
jetskisteve
AAAAAAARGH This skimmer sends out NON STOP bubbles, Will bring it home & try on my tank, Thanks
jetskisteve
Also FYI a Deltec is a COPY of an H&S skimmer, maybe I shoould give H&S a call
reef
AAAAAAARGH This skimmer sends out NON STOP bubbles, Will bring it home & try on my tank, Like all beginners you need to follow the instructions and read the posts. What is the point of trying it on another tank when it needs to build up a slime coat inside to stop the bubbles? Also FYI a Deltec is a COPY of an H&S skimmer, I thought Deltec was a copy of a Queen skimmer.
