kiwis
I'm looking at building a large tank 2m L x .60m W x .90m H. I'll keep it freshwater due to the cost of marine salt. Don't mind tropical or cold water but want large fish in there. What affordable large fish can you access in New Zealand. Obviously I want to avoid keeping 10,000 neon's to fill this tank up. Really keen to get some ideas.
livingart
90cm high is a lot of pressure on glass

calculator
40cm for the big ones, most of the big ones will max out at about 30cm.
flatfish
Or you could go African cichlids and get a group of frontosa
kiwiraka
Collecting sea water would make marine cheaper. But if not, south American/amazonian fish would offer the best selection.
OCD
90cm high would need a glass thickness of 18mm , with a safety factor of 2.5. 1000l + volume is over 1.5 tonne,( with the glass) good luck with that, Looking forward to the pictures. Ira
cichlids is a good idea, I've seen them in Hollywood before and used to have a small tank years ago.How big do they get in a large tank? You know that cichlids is one of the largest families of fish, right? Saying, "How big do cichlids get?" is a bit like saying, "So, how long cars?" You're looking at 3 feet to about 3 inches.
