redrachie
Hi everyone Was just wondering if the painted turtle experts around here would be able to tell me if you think they are fine to live with a red ear?
livingart
Red ears are pretty aggressive so I wouldn't chance it, especially in a smaller tank.
ratbag01
ive put my painted turtle with my red ear turtle it wasnt a good idea one of my mange to make a rock fall down and it landed on my painted turtle head, he is fine now, in the end have now put them in there own tanks, when they were living with each other my red ear would eat all the food before the painted turtle could get any. i have now done more reading up about the painted turtle, they are shy turtles and live more warm temps of water and like to hide, i have plants and fish with my painted turtle. alanmin4304
My brother in Queensland was astonished to find that we were breeding red eared turtles as they are shot on site in Queensland. They attack the native turtles and swimmers. Mind you so do the salties.

alanmin4304
Most reptiles are solitary animals and it is only our human foibles that makes us think they are lonely.
ratbag01
i dont think you should keep it with a snake neck turtle, i have to move my painted turtle into his own tank, he keep trying to have sex with snake neck.
