alanmin4304
During the quakes tanks and equipment were covered but not livestock.
camtang
I am not sure if there is fish insurence, I know there is standard pet insurence.I asked my insurence company if they would insurence my fish and they said no. All this talk of the wild discus has made me think about this
livingart
hard to insure fish as there are too many variables in the way people keep them then too many variables available to deny a claim
camtang
Surely the same can be said about any living creature, including a cat or a dog
Sunbird73
Think its cat, dog and horses as far as I know. You would never get anyone to cover fish, they are just too easy to kill, and if they get a disease then the whole tank gets it etc, and so many diseases are due to immune systems weakened by poor living conditions. Would you want to run an insurance company insuring other people's discus? I wouldn't..... Even the fish shops only guarantee they will live for 24hrs! camtang
I wouldnt want to run an insurence anything, its pretty easy for people to lie
Phantom
It would be nice if companies would be willing to provide livestock insurance for accidents / acts of god. I lost thousands worth of livestock after the Feb earthquake
phoenix44
Can't insure fish here.
camtang
Thats a shame that you cant do that here. There would be a small fortune in some peoples tanks around this country I suspect. I bet a lot of people lost a lot of there wet pets in those quakes sadly. At the end of the day if that is the worse thing they lost its not such a bad deal
phoenix44
Any non income earning pets wont be covered if there's an earthquake etc as well. Livestock(farms) is the exception but the rules and regulations around it are insanely strict.
