GrahamC
Found these green spherical objects on my sponge filter in my angel tank ( 3 angels, unknown gender ). The main ones are the same size, but there are a few much smaller ones. No one is guarding them. There's a light green algae covering the sponge filter, and they look the same colour. Eggs or something else?
Ira
:slfg: I think they're bubbles.
GrahamC
Wondered about that but looking at them tangentially, they're green. Perhaps the bubbles are being formed under the algae? Also wondered if the fish were making Xmas decorations for their tank :cr8:
Sophia
they are the colour of the cyano algae I used to get but I've never seen bubbles like that I would not be able to resist poking them with one of my various tank poking sticks :cofn:
GrahamC
I called the picture angel-bubbles, and they are reflective but hard to see how bubbles can form on the surface of a sponge filter which is negatively pressured. I am resisting poking them!

Same way any bubbles form. And it's possible they were just floating around the tank and then got stuck to the filter. I am resisting poking them! Poke them. If they detach, float to the surface and pop, they're bubbles. Not exactly rocket science.
Caryl
I was going to suggest poking one too When in doubt, poke it  (Unless it looks like something that will object to the maneuver)
livingart
with the position they are on the sponge i would suggest the pressure would not be very negative in that region
Ira
(Unless it looks like something that will object to the maneuver) In which case you poke it quickly.
GrahamC
They're shrinking so I guess the gas is being absorbed. Perhaps the bubble is acting as a lens so that's why it appears to be green ... showing the underlying algae. I tried ringing WINZ to ask them whom they would suggest for penetration testing .. but the line was busy.
Sophia
poke them before they are gone otherwise we will never know! :nilly:
livingart
They're shrinking so I guess the gas is being absorbed it is a ploy, don't be fooled they will manifest some where else in greater numbers
jim r
If you are going to poke them you need to obtain a poking certificate in triplicate from our resident pointy stick officer. :gigl:
GrahamC
Either they're moving, or, new ones are forming and others vanishing .... I think this is a new life form, a motile form of bubble algae
