Fruju
Was emptying the dehumidifier today and had a thought; do they extract pure water from the air? If so, would that water be ok for a marine tank? Would chemicals etc remain in the processed water? Or is that flawed?
Godly3vil
Unless you can be 100pct sure that there is no other harmful chemicals in the air that it is purifying I wouldn't think it would be good, I have heard of people doing this though. alanmin4304
I know a guy who uses that water to breed cardinal tetras. It will pick up impurities from the air as will a fish tank with no lid or one with air pumped in to it. People use rainwater in fish tanks after it has scrubbed smoke out of the air. The better the quality of water added to marine tanks the better the result as I understand it.
blueether
I have heard of the water from dehumidifiers killing marine inverts. Most dehumidifiers use aluminium and copper, copper is very toxic to marine inverts and I wouldn't risk it when you can buy 'pure dew' water
reef
If so, would that water be ok for a marine tank? absolutely not, it is dirty . if it was pure we would drink it. Best is a RO/Di filter.

#!CrunchBang
Thought it would be fine to drink seeing as it's "pure" water
