Frilled Lizards

Recommended Posts

YOU HAVE SEEN THORNY DEVILS FOR SALE?

IS THAT A TUI AD?

I've seen them for sale a while back now in animates. How they got them I do not know, they're obviously here somewhere.

And before anyone gives me the "are you sure?", Yes definitely sure, they do look really cool too.

That is correct

Maybe they were illegally selling them at animates without realising? The ants they eat is the same one we mainly have here too from memory? Would be quite difficult to keep.

edit: typos, my coastal thought pressing keys would be helpful.

so where were these mysterious thorny devils?? :digH:

I answered that already? I saw one for sale at an animates a while back, from memory it was the one at tower junction Chch at the time. Haven't seen one since though.

I took note of it as I had always wanted one.

They struggle to keep them alive in specialist reptile parks let alone in private hands like they were for sale here.

Frillies are wicked didn't they used to be around openly ?

Yea I wondered about that, my father always used to tell stories of the frilly lizards that use to get up on their hind legs and run, in a bay where my grandmother used to live here.

Apparently I saw them as a kid, but I can't remember.

Im putting my money on it being a water dragon not a thorny devil

They look A LOT different. Was definitely a thorny devil I saw. I remember how crazily spiky it was :).

Out of interest does anyone know if there's still monitors around? I haven't seen any of those for sale for a good few years now.

admit it,you were dreaming,or do you partake in recreational drugs of some sort? :rotf:

+1 animates struggles to provide proper care for frogs i don't think a specialist eating reptile like a horny devil would last long at all. animates as far as i have seen only feeds there reptiles that dry locusts "stuff", tiny meal worms and flies.

what was the price of them?? someone would have to have sold them to them. and im picking $3000+ would be what a breeder/smuggler would be wanting for them + them huge mark up animates adds to everything. Plus i don't think someone would walk into animates and be like "hay ive got these to sell, they illegal do you want them."
