Glass blenny

Featured Replies

Has any one seen or know of native marine fish (looks more like a blenny than a goby) that is see-through like glass? They seem to get more see- through as they get bigger. And does anyone know what it is called? I have found them in Gisborne.

why does that fish look like he's pressing on the glass trying to peer out?

:sml2:

maybe he can see Anthony coming with his paintbrush camera :digH:

was reading up about blennies the other day and several sources claimed true blennies only occur between north cape and east cape.

Blenny shape as said but looked like glass. Smaller one you could see some of the internals but bigger ones almost completely clear.

Will have to wait till summer to have another look.

how big are they?, there is a Glass goby in NZ waters Gobiopterus semivestitus that is completely clear

other than that can't find anything in my books or online (they don't tend to study it unless its profitable
