Judy Sanson
 I have often sat watching my fish watch me, and have many a time, thought that a two way mirror in the front of the tank would be so cool. I can see them, but they can see only themselves and others. Has anyone ever done that ? Could it actually work ??
Squirt
Nope, I don't think my turtle could cope with it. Every time he sees me he splashes and races to what ever side of the tank I'm on... I'm sure some fish do this :slfg:
ally07
Are you trying to interrogate your fish? "A platy was found dead last night; eyes were eaten. Where were you at 8pm last night? In the plastic skull or near the sunken castle?" :sml2:

Judy Sanson
Oh Haha :slfg: But seriously, could it be done ?? It would be good for the skittish fish. Its more the harm that a mirror would do to the tank and the fish. :roey:
Squirt
My mum has it in her shop, but I think the mirror side is on the outside, so you'd have to stick it on the inside of your tank? I'm not sure how it works or which side sticks to glass, but looking through her one it is quite dark and not like regular glass. Maybe different variations? In theory yes it would work. Don't know about side effects on fish though. HTH

#!CrunchBang
It would depend on the amount of light. The tank light would need to be bright and the room they're in would need to be dark otherwise it wouldn't work.
alanmin4304
I have built tanks with mirrored glass on the back and ends and they look realy good on a heavily planted tanks. Looks like the plants go on forever. The fish go a bit nutty fighting with themselves for a couple of days but give up when the pain does not arrive. Stella
I had a male upland bully go ballistic when the females decided to lay their eggs with the other male. He started beating the girls up really badly. To give them a break for a while I propped a mirror up against the tank and he went nuts at that instead. Useful trick.
