supasi
Yes, they are commonly used for roadside planting as in your pic. They are everywhere once you know what you are looking for.
alanmin4304
There is one in the park over the road from us. Handy wee cones and not as messy as the strawberry trees or as useful as the pear and the walnut.
Zev
Yussss!!!! There are three trees outside the local National Bank - must walk past them at least once a month and have never noticed them there! You want some Ryan? I can make the other half get to pick some off the lower branches (there are quite a few on the ground, but the village is riddled with dogs and people who walk them an the most ungodly hours of the night - so would be loathe to get you some of those). ryanjury
So why are you all desperate to find alders? :dunno: It is a natual way to lower the PH, add tannins and they are anti-bacterial. http://www.aldercones.com/ http://www.planetcatfish.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=19561
