supasi
I still use sponge filter also. They are brilliant for fry tanks.
ryanjury
what size and type are you using? All sorts and sizes, depends on what I have lying around, obviously I stick the smaller ones in smaller tanks, but most of my 2ft tanks have a sponge filter in them.. For messier fish I use a bubble filter because it sucks up more crud.
Insect Direct
great things for seeding new tanks too..
Caryl
What do you mean by 'bubble filter' Ryan? Do you mean a box filter?
ryanjury
What do you mean by 'bubble filter' Ryan? Do you mean a box filter? Yeah just a box filter, thanks Caryl, I was trying to figure out the right word to differentiate between sponge and box type filters, because they are both technically bubble filters
ichthus
Got a larger Aqua One branded sponge filter in my grow out tank. Works perfectly, if it wasn't so damn big I'd happily use them in other tanks...simple things can still work well.
Ira
For what I've tried to use them for I always found them absolutely useless. Don't flow very much, clog almost instantly and are only useful for fry tanks. Maybe I used the wrong ones.
Zayne
which type do you like best? 1. 2. 3.?

ryanjury
i like the double ones firstt pic Have found them to be quite cheap and nasty and the sponges disintegrate after a while and a few washes, I still use them though
Matto
#3 ,i have 2 in a 76litre tank full of juvi africans and they work great
supasi
I have all three types. The bottom ones are in my opinion the best but take more room. The others you can stick to the back wall. That is till the suction cups fail.
