Joshlikesfish
Looking good! Be careful of the water parameters since you added so many fish. When did you get the red fighter?
critter_crazy
Thanks! I did what you said and didn't do any water changes for a week, and I got it tested today and it was sweet :happy2: I'll up the water changes for a bit until the bacteria has time to catch up. Mum saw him at Animates today and couldn't resist  She has a thing for them and paid for it and all (my last one passed away last week of old age). This one is really stunning, red with a gold underbelly and blue flecks like a ram

Ismart120
Man, that looks really good. How is the fighter with the guppies?
critter_crazy
Yeah haha, she acts like she doesnt like them but she so does  He seems good so far! He's still quite young so not fully grown. Guppies are moving to a new tank tomorrow anyway, they were just there for cycling purposes
supasi
Looking good. Has a peaceful feel to it. Might just have to watch that water sprite though. It will head to the surface before you know it.
critter_crazy
Thanks! Yeah it's growing so fast already I love it though, will just have to do a reshuffle when it gets a bit bigger lol
Joshlikesfish
Might just have to watch that water sprite though. Watch hard enough and you'll see it grow
critter_crazy
Pretty much!! The ones there are just those little sprouts I got from you. Every time I walk past the tank they're bigger I swear! :happy2:
Ismart120
Once they hit the top its all over, the things spread like wild fire there.

Caryl
You can also leave some free floating on the surface. It is looking good but what makes you think you have "finished" it? :sml1: :sml1: :rotf: :rotf:
critter_crazy
Just the fact that it's officially cycled, I finally got a new bulb in (original was broken when I got the tank) and I'm happy with how the scaping is looking  No doubt it'll be re-arranged again in a couple of weeks! I'll think of it as properly finished when I have the guppies out, and I get some cories, a fancy plec, and a couple of blue and golden rams. Then I'll have everything I wanted when I planned the project :smln:
Ismart120
Loaches, get loaches instead of the cories, dwarf chain would look cool - makes for a change on the cory standard I think 8)
anthony law
cool looking.nice job :happy1: : It is looking good but what makes you think you have "finished" it? :sml1: :sml1: :rotf: :rotf: +1 they never finish,,you will all ways make improvments,,,, :happy2: so when the next bigger tank going to be started..you cant get away with one tank set up in this hobby... :nilly: :nilly:

the-obstacle
Looks great! that lotus looks tiny. All it needs is about $600 worth of lights, ferts and co2 and it'll grow 3 times the size
critter_crazy
Thanks guys I love the classic community and wanted to start with something simple. I am keen on loaches but I didn't know what species to get, I'll have a look into dwarf chains! This isn't my only tank, I have 4 other small ones  Next big one will be when I can save up for one! Being a student and an un-paid intern, cash is hard to come by! Yeah the lotus is looking kind of sad but I'm not too keen on adding ferts etc. Plus the fish eat it That can't help! I've seen the guppies, BN and neons picking at the leaves! I was watching a female guppy and she kept picking at it until she'd eaten a whole leaf!
critter_crazy
Today my project was to set up my neglected 2ft tank in my room and re-vamp it. I ended up using the left over plants to make a sort of mini version of the big tank down stairs. I'm really happy with it I missed having a nice tank in my bedroom. At the moment it's housing a couple of young GBAs and my albino snakeskin guppies. If anyone has any stocking ideas (tiny fish that will go with the guppies) let me know Here's a (bad - the waters still a tad murky from planting) photo of the new tank :happy2:
