Neon
yep I've been - it's awesome! if you head up there, go to goat island too. but not on a weekend as it gets too busy and crazy
Sophia
We are supposed to be going to Goat Island tomorrow but the report on SeaFriends for today says it's crap. So it could be the excuse I need to go and see the lizards. It is one of my 'holiday things' to go to Goat Island when the kids have gone back to school so I get the snapper almost to myself

Sophia
I went today, photos to come. I loved it. Yes there are 2 capuchin monkeys part way to the alligators, they were looking surly today
Fruju
yeah, those are the guys! They wiggle their eyebrows rather amusingly.
Sophia
I greeted one of them extremely politely, and he looked as if to say 'What the ____ are you looking at?' and hid his head under some shade. He didn't realise he was in a zoo.
the-obstacle
I was there 3 years ago and thought the place was awesome except for the monkey enclosure. It looked overgrown and run down and they didn't look well kept. Maybe I was expecting too much but I thought they could do with a bit more space. Sophia
A selection of the photos I took yesterday – well worth a visit Off topic but interesting: this wasp was dragging this huge spider somewhere. Click thumbnail for short movie. Movie Critters with shells (Top one dedicated to Insect Direct) Willy the Galapagos tortoise from Auckland Zoo 2 horny turtles ramming a female who was apparently oblivious. The hills rang with the sound of shells knocking Capuchin monkey Alligator. Also spotted here was a baby skink trying to get into the alligator enclosure, rather than out of. Lizards galore Water dragon paradise this place was – they apparently have some for sale also
Mikey
Awesome photos! The wasp is probably dragging spider back to it's hive?/lair?/nest? to feed it to the babies I'll put this on the list of places to visit with my daughter when she is a bit older Thanks for sharing! Sophia
I recommend going a little later in the morning when the sun is high, as on the way in there are some gecko and skink displays and they were quite hard to find. We got there at 11am or so and could only see a few but nearly an hour later on the way out the sun was brighter and more of them were out sunbathing in the tops of the bushes. We saw another wasp with exactly the same sort of spider on another bush walk too, creepy
