all my fish love the hikari algae wafers.. but especially my hypan!

Phoenix.. which ones do you use for yours? i was at HFF yesterday trying to decide between the algae wafers and the sinking wafers . Ended up sticking with what I know and got the mini algae wafers as my fish are smaller species.

I love the stuff.

It's absolutely brilliant. The pleco tabs start some pretty mean hypan fights in my tank - right to the point where I had to remove some of the smaller species of hypans!

Thanks P44 - something my king tiger plec will like then? Is that the Algae wafers?

Anyone using the Discus Bio-Gold?

The one in the green packet. I usually throw the packet out and store the wafers in a container.

They should love it.

I have a female that takes off with them and hides them in a cave! Then she defends them all so I have to put more in the tank!

Henward used to use bio gold. Again, I think it would be a great food. I was going to get some off ebay, but never got round to it.

Hikari is absolutely brilliant. My green aro goes for them pretty quick even though aros are notorious for rejecting pellet/ fresh food diets. In the event that the filter intake does suck the pellet up before my aro gets it, it does not lose its shape. I have retrieved pellets from the filter wool after about 10-12 hours continuously soaked and they did not turn into mush or disintegrate - that's what really impressed me. Other brands I've tried claim to "retain their shape" but in reality start breaking apart within about 2 minutes.

Hikari may not be the cheapest brand around but it's worth it IMO, since your tank ends up being a bit cleaner than having bits of food everywhere.

for highly meat eating fish, IMO hikari is better.

for smaller fish, then i would go nls.

for my monsters, hikari is my preferred, I use NLS for my clown loaches AND hikari, both i reckon is better. as each food has its ups and downs i guess.

so i ust use both.

but c gold is spectacular and growth rates from it is far better.

i have used many t ypes of food, but hikari is so good.

Discus gio gold is fantastic but expensive, also its good cos they dont reject it and are easily accepted compared to other foods that break apart.

I would say hikari is my number one food, then nls.

but value for money, you cant beat NLS. its much much more cost effective.

but then again some overseas would claim nls is better.....
