Marine fish/corals get all their minerals from the water, it is in the instant salt or seawater that you use, if you top up with tap water etc then you can add nutrients which over time can cause issues. henward Posted January 6, 2011 Report Share Posted January 6, 2011 I add sea salt, grade 22 course salt by dunninghams. you get it in 25 kg sacks for 1.10 per kg. i get 100kg at a time. very cheap lasts me ages! i put them in 3 times a weak to replenish minerals and trace in the tanks. a bit old fashioned i know but i dont get sick fish often at all. last one was a fungal infection with my six bar which was more than a year ago. and fish are always full of life and healthy. i use straight tap water too to wc.
