Joe
I think it is repulsive how people line-breed, inbreed and selectively breed animals to get something that looks much more disgusting than the original species. I have seen some hidious Dwarf Cichlid mutations before, like Golden Rams for example. And everything that is albino just makes me sick! SamH
I must be honest and say I haven't looked but I am sure if I saw one in a pet shop I would notice it!!! :-? Jansens used to stock them. Then they turned into Animates

doddle69
They need to be kept at about 25 degrees and require other special care, so that's why they aren't stocked in petshops. They can be purchased off breeders. i got them from up north when i had them was 3years ago i still have my whole set up lights etc as they where in a aviary lol i used to have 6aviarys before i moved out of home

Zev
Do they have names for the different colours?
Joe
Wow what an awesome aviary Yes they do have names for the different colours. There are three naturally occuring colours: Red-headed (the most common of the three Gouldian colours) Yellow-headed (their head isn't actually yellow, it is orange; red with yellow pigment - which gives it the orange colour) Black-headed (the colours of these are more of a chalky texture, and the breast is lilac rather than strong purple). The Red-headed birds are my favourites
livingart
yes original ones too like red headed, yellow headed, white fronted etc  i found the colours were just as strong no matter the head colour had yellow heads and orange heads bred them for 6 years along with other foreign finches
