ryanjury
That does suck They have given you the run around, I would ring and ask to talk to a manager or go into your local branch and (politely) refuse to leave until you have talked to the manager and sorted it out. ryanjury
My wife found 3 jobs within 2 weeks of starting to look for one she wasn't going for highly skilled jobs or anything like that though. It was crazy the number of people applying for jobs though she was chosen out of 150 applicants for the job she decided to take. Anyway I do believe that there is something that can be done in your case it is probably just a case of talking to the right person so keep on ringing/visiting.. David R
Not surprising really, our benefit system is geared more to supporting long-term no-hopers than looking after genuine people in need for short periods of time. That really sucks that they expect you to cancel interviews for permanent jobs for the sake of a couple of days part-time work, it just smacks of the short-sightedness so typical with many social services. I'd consult a lawyer and go back to them with a clear list of your entitlements, as well as writing to the appropriate MP's to make them aware of how poorly our dollars are being spent... Caryl
My brother lost his job last Feb after 22 years with the company. Before that he was in the army. Hard to find employment when you are 54 with health problems, although these had not affected his work. He has never been unemployed before or been on any sort of benefit and is finding it soul destroying and is now battling depression. He is applying for anything and everything but when a basic factory job got 1,465 applicants for one position, he is one of many  He has found WINZ very helpful so far. doddle69
WINZ can be very helpful when they want to be it all in the people you have to deal with.
