phoenix44
Not at the moment. I would focus on conditioning them. In this case, like we've said before - they need to lose weight / look more streamlined.
Joshlikesfish
Sweet. They're starting to look a bit smaller. Will do one feeding every two days. How many tabs for the 5 fish?
Joshlikesfish
Male has what I think is another fish in his cave. I also spotted it yesterday. I sort of freaked because I read about zebra males eating another male that went in their caves, but then I remembered L104 and panaque not hypan  How long does the male usually keep the female in the cave for? firenzenz
Can be anything from very short time up to days. I've see. Mature proven females go into cave-have a wee wriggle with male and out in an hr Younger/inexperienced fish could take a lot more persuasion and this can often be the most precarious time for them. Joshlikesfish
Checked them before lights off. Males still going at it but the female is now has her head facing out the log as if she wants to leave but he's not letting him :-?
KrazyGeoff
WHAT!!! No Barry White! Doomed to fail  Hilarious Checked them before lights off. Males still going at it but the female is now has her head facing out the log as if she wants to leave but he's not letting him :-? Female facing out is a good thing. What I have noticed is that if the male has a female in the cave, rather than another male, then if you shine a torch in there he will flair his cheek odontodes. Joshlikesfish
So my first batch are going strong, around 8. They're around 2-2.5 months old. Had two spawning since then, one with the alpha male, one with the submissive male. Sub male lost all eggs and the alpha male abandoned his clutch, not sure why. They also look to be spawning as I post so heres hoping

Joshlikesfish
Five nice decent sized ones in the tank when I had a look today. Didn't look under or around the wood, just went by what I could see. Soon will be time to decide what to do with them
