snookie
6ft is great caryl, you know you want to put something big in there  you have the monster bug bad
bronze-dragon
For me it isn't the cost - it is having the space to put it! got the same problem in our house, the 6 footer we have is the longest tank we can have. we can have wider, taller, heavier tanks but we aren't keen on going for a swim if we ever need to pick something up off the bottom of the tank
David R
Width makes a huge difference, my 6' is 75cm wide instead of the usual 60cm, makes it look so much bigger/better. I'd much rather have a shorter wider tank than a long skinny one, eg 6x3x2' over 8x2x2' any day.
jim r
I think my longer skinny 3 Metre (550L)tank looks far better than either my shorter 700L or 950L tanks. A matter of taste I suppose.
David R
what are the actual dimensions on them?
Caryl
The extra width (front to back) means you can do a lot more with the aquascaping and get a much deeper look. I do not want monster fish in my 6ft (I don't like big fish and hate seeing them in aquariums). I want torpedo barbs and perhaps congo tetras to start, with some hoplos in the bottom. David R
I'm getting a bit like that too, I have no problem with people keeping big fish in suitably large aquariums, but the biggest fish in my 1400L won't be much over 10".

Caryl
Say it loud and proud Fruju! Everyone likes something different. Isn't it great that we have a hobby that offers such a diverse range of species, colours, habitats etc? :bounce:
Jaxxnz
This big enough? Horizontal or vertical doesn't matter, so long as there is plenty of open swimming space and nothing sharp they can damage themselves on if they get spooked. I can fit my whole body in side there David
Jaxxnz
Should I put a pic up of my 6litre nano with a 800L sump  hahahahahah

Fruju
Yeah, he used to be shy, now he rushes up to the glass to see me Eats very well, but still hard to photograph, hes about 3inches now. Sens are growing QUICK, rate of growth is very good, prob wont sell the guy who is biggest atm, very endearing. Hey, I checked out a version of the senegal bichir on the net; turkana senegal bichir grows to 20inch, same colour as a sen/dark grey and has the head of a delhezi = so cool.
